From when Europeans first came to North America till the Middle of the nineteenth century, hemp was grown all over. Its availability was useful for many families and companies. Hemp was also grown by two of our first presidents because of its versatility and efficient uses. The Declaration of independence was in fact, written on hemp paper. Hemp was actually a required crop in the Colonial times. It became a commodity and was an overall great use of land. The name “cannabis” comes from a variation of “canvas” because of hemps use in sails for boats.…

Hemp can and is normally grown outside to optimize its size. Hemp also is good for the field it is grown in. It breathes in CO2, like all plants, do, but it also helps detoxify the soil and keeps the soil from eroding. Also, whatever is left after a harvest will just become part of the soil and makes the soil rich and full of nutrition for whatever will be planted next. It also requires less water than a normal plant and it does not need any pesticides because it has a natural one making it more environmentally friendly then other crops. Hemp has many industrial uses and because it is a plant it is a renewable resource. The two main parts that you use from hemp are the seeds and the stock and fibers from the stock. For the seed, it has three parts that you can use from it, the nut, the oil, and the cake. The nut, or the seed itself, is mainly used for health foods like granola and cereal. The oil that you get from the seed are used for things like organic body products and cosmetics, but it is not just limited to body care, it is also used for things like fuel and ink. The cake is used for animal food and flour. The stock and fibers of a hemp plant are also just as useful as the seed, but it is used for material based items rather than food and beauty care. The stock of the hemp plant can be used to make paper products, cardboard, filters, and biofuel. The bast fiber of the hemp plant can be used to make things like rope, netting, canvas, carpet, biocomposites and clothes, shoes and bags that are not woven. Then there is the hurd which can be used for animal bedding, mulch, chemical absorbent, fiberboard, insulation, and concrete. However, there is one thing that hemp cannot do and that gets you high due to the low THC in the plant. Your body processes the hemp faster than you can smoke it, so you are more like to give yourself a headache before getting that high…
Hemp, on the other hand is high in CBD and low in THC. Each have their own unique uses and each are important medicinally. Since hemp contains almost no THC — less than one-percent — you cannot get high from it. And as long as hemp plants are pollinated by members of their own crop, they will maintain their low levels of THC. On the other hand, many strains of marijuana are actually bred for maintaining large levels of THC[1].…
Other great logos used during the PBS documentary, included Mr. Woolsey interview who knows by everyday usage that the 25,000 versatile beneficial uses of hemp should undoubtedly allow the government to see there is no logically reason to ban hemp. By pointing out that hemp is only a cousin to marijuana proves evidence, or logos, that it does not have the same effects or uses as marijuana. Hemp has only 1% of THC compared to marijuana which has 20% and shows it is almost impossible to get high from. (Heffernan) As stated by Heffernan hemp does not contain significant levels of “the psychoactive substance THC,” which paints the picture of how harmless hemp…

Technology seems to be making a huge impact on our lives every day. The internet has everything you need to know and more. There’s search engines that can help you do your shopping, there’s games, there’s chat rooms and also recourses to help yourself out in schooling needs. However I do see how it has been taking over our world. In the story “Y2K CHATRM43” Adrein talks about how Joel spends way to much time on the computer and thinks it’s useless, however Joel sees it differently. In this story I agree with Joel, there’s so much to do on the Internet, it can be very helpful for social needs and for schooling needs. Chat groups can be used to help you out in school. Having that can help you out with understanding school work and what not. The internet is also helpful with school because teachers can put the assignments online so we can access them. Online books help out a lot also instead of having to carry that huge text book home you’ve got it all right there in front of you online. Another reason I feel as if the internet is very useful is because there’s videos online that explain school work and certain subjects. If your teacher doesn’t explain the assignment good enough for you, theres online videos that can help you get a better understanding. They say in the future all schooling will be online, all kids will have their own computers to do their work and there won’t be teacher lectures anymore! What will the future bring?…
Young people are more eager to try new things that will give them a feeling unlike one they have experienced before, in other words a high. If smoked it has a different effect on the body than it does if you use it for medical reasons. Cannabis oil which is concentrated cannabis extracts is becoming a popular medicine for patients with cancer, glaucoma, and seizures. ¨Evidence has shown cannabinoids to be capable, under some conditions, of inhibiting the development of cancer cells¨ (Hazekamp). Cannabis oil isn't smoked, it is in an oil form which does not cause lung problems in the future. People taking cannabis oil are not using it for the high, they use it to “cure” or to help slow down their diagnosis. Taking cannabis oil doesn’t necessarily help the diagnosis either but in some situations it helps to gain your appetite back, it helps the person to sleep, and it also helps prevent being nauseous (Hazekamp). Although it is illegal in many states which makes it hard to give this treatment to many people. If given to children in states where it is illegal the parents can get in trouble and even have their children taken away. Many states look at the negative effects it has on the body by smoking it. However they haven’t looked at the positive effects it has on the body through the cannabis oil (Hazekamp).…

When people use medical marijuana they are prescribed a CBD dominant strain which contains "little or no THC." This strain causes no alteration in consciousness and helps people with chronic pain. Patients who have been prescribed CBD have reported "many benefits." These benefits have insomnia, anxiety, spasticity, and pain. Some of the most common uses for it are pain control. It is also known as a fantastic muscle relaxer and to lessen tremors from Parkinson's. It is a more natural way to treat certain medical conditions than drugs like Advil or Alive. If people can not take these drugs due to kidney problems then marijuana is their solution. Store bought drugs also have side effects with them while CBD strains do not have any. Another big area for marijuana is people with PTSD. Since it can calm down the brain it can stop people from having severe episodes. It has had "drastic Improvement" in soldiers who are returning home. There is a large argument that it can affect your lungs if you smoke it, but there…
One of the biggest advocates of cannabidiol (CBD) in the state of Wisconsin is Amylynne Santiago Volker, who has worked tirelessly to see changes in Wisconsin laws that would make CBD accessible to her nine-year-old son Nick, who suffers from Doose Syndrome. In April of 2104, Governor Rick Scott signed into law Assembly Bill (AB) 267, more commonly called Lydia’s Law, which legalized the use of CBD oil for seizure disorders. Initially, there was excitement about what was considered a step in the right direction with medical marijuana, but after much assessment of the provisions of the law, parents have questions over its efficacy to serve patients like Nick who desperately need CBD oil. Many supporters of the CBD oil and legal experts have…
“Marijuana is the finest anti-nausea medication known to science, and our leaders have lied about this consistently. [Arresting people for] medical marijuana is the most hideous example of government interference in the private lives of individuals. It’s an outrage within an outrage within an outrage”.…
The use of marijuana in human civilization dates back to 6000 B.C. In this era, China found that cannabis seeds are edible and later discovered a greater use as textiles. From that time period, humanity has made significant advancement, and has discovered further uses for the marijuana plant. Today, marijuana can be used as medical cannabis to treat ailments that other medication cannot possibly treat. Although medical cannabis has some great benefits, in the many countries it is still illegal to possess and/or use. Thus the legalization of marijuana should be legalized through its promising and beneficial results.…
