I first became interested in working with children as a babysitter in my early teens. Even if I didn’t get paid I enjoyed being with young children. As time progressed I began to work in the nursery at church then moved on to the preschool age children. That’s when I found my love of Preschoolers; they’re like sponges they just soak it in.
Throughout my high school years I took Child Development courses and worked as a student worker with at risk families with children from birth to three years of age. Shortly after my marriage I worked with preschoolers in my school district’s Pre-K Center. That was such a rewarding time for me. I continued to work there until the birth of our daughter. That’s when I decided to be a stay at home mom to teach/play with her and bond being my child’s first teacher. A few years later my second and last child came along. I sure found out how different children/siblings are. Now, I try to remember that we are all made from a different mold.
Moving on to the present with both of my children in school I felt it was time to go back to my love of preschoolers. I currently work in an elementary school and want to further myself educationally by obtaining my CDA. Hopefully my little sponges will be absorbing positive affirmations in a world on negativity.
