Cda Goal 6
Competency Goal Six
To maintain a commitment to professionalism I will introduce daily opportunities for the children within the classroom to explore their surrounding world through play, examination, art and science activities and much more.
The children will be encouraged to explore each center within the classroom; these centers will be set up based upon the theme of the week. There will be an art, library, block area, home living, manipulative and science/sensory center within the classroom. At times some of these centers may be changed according to the theme plan for the week.
A lesson plan will be posted for the parents to view each week. At the end of the day there is a daily event note posted on the door to let each parent view what we had done for the day. Along with a “toddler gram/infant gram” note that will go home with each child stating the art activity, the science/sensory activity, the gross motor activity (outside play), as well as diaper change/potty time, what we had for snack and lunch and any reminders for the following day. Also we have incorporated a monthly calendar. Each parent may take this home to give them an idea of the theme that we will be doing each week, any important dates that are coming up and any reminders that may be needed. Twice per year there are conference times set up for the parents to meet with teachers in regards to the progress of their child and what we will be working on for the remainder of the year. The parents are encouraged to attend one or both of these.
If the parents have questions or concerns they are encouraged to ask at anytime, whether it is daily or at the time of the conferences. Also if a parent would like to have a consultation before or after the arranged times they are also encourage to seek this opportunity at any time.
For personal growth I will attend any workshop that will encourage and help me implement various activities within the

How I ensure that families are kept aware of what’s happening in their child’s daily/ or weekly life in my program is by having room displays such as photos and posters of the children interacting with each other and bulletin boards of their artwork all around my center. I would also post pictures of the children dancing and laughing around my class to show the parents the fun things we do. I would also post pictures of them working to show the children’s parents that my children are getting educated and that my children are learning. I am also able to provide the families with my weekly agenda of what the children and I will be working on. I can also exchange emails with the families to communicate via email, if they have any questions we can also exchange numbers. I can also provide daily reports of the child’s daily progress. I can also include and struggle the child has had during the day.…

I do my part to maintain a well run purposeful program, responsive to participant needs. On their first day in our program, I make an effort to meet and greet our clients, the parents as well as the children. I ask the parents if they need any special requirements, accommodations or modifications to better service their children. I also ask the children which games they enjoy, and see if they have any questions for me about the program. This gives them an opportunity to know we have familiar activities that they are used to, gives them a chance to share their fears and worries about the program, and they also to get to know me a little better. With this information from the children, parents and our director, the counselors and I work together as planners, getting our weekly schedules for the children and taking turns delegating the activities. We come up with our own plans and put them together to form a enriched learning program.…

Based on my knowledge of child development I use the observations of the children to identify any child who may need extra support or referral. I also use obervations to plan activities based on the children interests because I know children learn best when they are enjoying the activity. CG 4.1 Keeping Families Informed In my center it’s a priority to make sure we are keeping all families informed of all the things that we as a center do as well as their individual child’s daily activities. I would have a welcome packet that includes contact information as well as center information. This would include information such as teacher profiles, center policies etc. I will make it a point to get to know each parent and to establish an open dialect. I would have information as to how they can contact me to discuss any concerns they may have as well as just general information we just share on a daily basis. We would have a monthly newsletter and calendar with center activities on it as well as weekly information in the entry way to remind them of any upcoming events we may have. There will also be daily communication sheets provided for each child describing what their child did throughout the day. Parents will know that they are welcome to stop in or call at any time to check on their child’s day.…

Their schedule was up on the parent board, and all around the room of the times, and what the children do throughout the day. On the door when you walk in, there is a big sign of the times and a picture showing what the children do at those times. For example, 8:30-920 is play time and there is a picture of the children playing on the carpet or at the sand tables. It shows when they wash hands, go outside, and when they eat snack in the morning. The schedule is very strict and the teachers stick to it, just because it is what the parents and the children are use to, that way the children know when to clean up and they can also help; since they know when to start doing that.…
