As a professional lead teacher I know that there are several types of child abuse such as physical abuse, that is a result of punching, beating, kicking, biting, shaking, throwing, and chocking, such injuries are considered abuse regardless of whether the caretaker intended to hurt the child or not. Another type of abuse is, sexual abuse .Sexual abuse includes activities by the parent or caretaker such as fondling a child’s genitals, penetration, incest, rape, indecent exposure and exploitation through prostitution or the production of pornographic materials. Emotional abuse is a result in child abuse and that is a pattern of behaviors that impairs a child’s emotional development or sense of self-worth.
As lead teacher, working with children everyday I had to learn and understand the difference in neglect. The first sign of neglect is failure to provide the children’s basic needs such as adequate food, clothing, shelter, supervision, or medical care. The signs of neglect are frequently absent from school, begs or steal money, lacks the needed medical and dental care, immunizations or glasses, is consistently dirty and has severe body odors.
As a quality led teacher it is my job duty to report child abuse whenever I believe that a person who is caring for the child or might live with the child or even around the child has caused injury or harm to put the child at risk of physical injuries.
