Although some initiatives that are implemented amongst the various health-based organizations may appear similar in that they all have the same purpose of effectively improving overall global health, they do however vary in a different ways. When exploring the various global health initiatives employed by the CDC, it is apparent that they are found to have concepts parallel to other organizations. These initiatives include, but are not limited to disease detection, health protection, and illness and disease prevention through vaccines. Focusing in on the initiative of disease protection, this global health initiative utilizes information systems and highly trained individuals to monitor rates of diseases globally. On their website, the CDC showcases its work with children in various sections. The CDC’s collaboration with UNICEF, a children’s health based group highlights the work being done with children’s health initiatives, particularly the global immunization of children in the developing world. Another determinant that I found to be particularly apparent throughout the organization’s global work is income. This determinant is displayed numerous times on the CDC’s website, including throughout the previously stated examples involving the determinant of age. It is often displayed in many initiatives because a large amount of the health efforts and advancements made by global health-based organizations, such as the CDC occur in third-world countries where there are often countless people living in poverty.
