It was the first time that Tarlac State University hosted the 16'th National Conference of the Council of Economics (CECON) held at Cinema 1, SM City Tarlac last November 23, 2012. Mainstreaming the role of Mass Media, Arts and Sports in Economic Transformation: It was the main topic of the conference. Different Universities around the country including TSU participated. Before it starts, they gave us enough time to have our snacks from Max's Restaurant. Right after that, the event oficially started with the speach of the TSU Vice Presedent for Academic Affairs, Lolita Sicat followed by Gov. Vic Yap to give his message and a little information about the economic status of Tarlac. The first guest speaker was the king of all media, Boy Abunda. He discussed the role of mass media in economic transformation. During his discussion, he pointed out that education is an investment for profit. He believes to the power of education to improve the economy of our country. I learned a lot from him not only about the topic but also to the different aspect of life indeed. After his very long discussion we had our lunch. The second guest speaker was Douglas who is an international choreographer. Douglas discussed the role of arts in economic transformation. I learned from him that arts have served as components of high-impact economic development programs by assisting local government in increasing cultural resources to generate economic vitality in under-performing regions through tourism, crafts and cultural attractions. He also said that he doesn't like social media because it can influence Filipinos to patronize the culture of other countries. After his discussion, he presented his group named, Power Dance who gave us a wonderful dance number. Before the last speaker starts, we took our last snack and they also distributed our seminar
