Celebrity Role Model
Whether it’s the doctor next door, the librarian down the street, or even your parents, there are many people to fit someone’s description as a role model. For many a role model is their favorite sport player, or actor/actress. Does the fame of a well known person change their ability to be a good role model? Should kids even look up to celebrities? There are both positive and negative sides to celebrity role models. As a celebrity you always have someone watching your every move. The negative things done will always outweigh the good. Just like “regular” people celebrities also make mistakes. The only difference is it’s harder to be forgiven by millions of people versus a few. What people fail to realize is their only human. Celebrities that make positive differences are one’s deserving of the title, “Role model.” One’s like Oprah that have foundations to better the world. Or the one’s that came from a very unfortunate childhood that strived to do better. Parents should be able to differentiate good celebrities from bad, and lead their kids in the right direction. It’s good to know plenty of information on your role model so you won’t be disappointed in the long run. Having a famous role model is always cool, but who’s to say that a neighbor can’t give you the same hope or

In the article “The Impact Celebrities Have On Our Lives”, Deborah King explains that celebrities can both positive and negative impact on people, and I agree because some celebrities are bad influences to us most especially younger people, but other celebrities are good role models and bring a positive impact on people. Often times on celebrity news shows, they talk about bad things that celebrities have done like cheating on someone else, or even worse like doing drugs or assaulting someone, but I have also seen celebrities being good role models when they donate the money they win on some game show to a charity of their choice or by raising awareness for something like bullying. This demonstrates that some of your favorite celebrities may…

Being a role model is the most powerful form of education; we, the young developing adults, would be lost without it. A role model is a person that someone looks up to and wants to be like, either in the present or in the future. It can be anyone; a parent, family member, friend, or even someone off of a movie or book. The tremendous role models that I continue to learn from are my amazing mom, enlightened Coach Bird, and brilliant minded Sherlock Holmes.…

In the article The Impact Celebrities Have On Our Lives Barbara King states in paragraph six that the reason we watch celebrities is to watch them lose talent and become unwanted in our eyes, and I disagree with the comment that she made, this reminds me of the time my friend wanted my cousin to die out of his baseball talent and fail. Often times, it seems as if my friend and cousin are fighting, my friend and cousin are on the same baseball team and they would always yell rude comments at each other when one struck out, etc. I asked my friend at school why they were so mean to each other, to which he responded that he was angry that my cousin was better than him. However, it turns out that my friend looks up to my cousin and is determined…

Behaviourism is a theory of psychology that was dominant between 1920s and 1950s. It is a theory of learning that is concerned about behaviour that can be observed and measured scientifically rather than being shaped by innate mental states such as thinking, knowing, feeling and biological processes such as hormones. Two major influences on behavioural psychology today are B.F. Skinner and Albert Bandura. Skinner's theory of learning was called "Operant Conditioning" or sometimes known as instrumental conditioning and it is basically a method of learning that uses rewards and punishments to shape or change behaviour by the use if positive or negative reinforcement. Every type of behaviour or action produces a consequence.…

Do celebrities make bad role models? I believe they do. Kids see celebrities in the news everyday and mimic what they do, thinking that they should be like them. But that is wrong. Most celebrities don’t know what they are doing in their life because they have a hard time telling reality from fantasy. They are like you and me, but people think that they are more than that. Most magazines and movies have pictures/videos of airbrushed celebrities and when teenager look at these they start believing that looking like how celebrities do is the only way to be popular and loved.…
