Celery
I always found celery weird, so I never bother or even dare eating them. However, for this assignment I decided to try them and see how it tastes. I decided to choose celery first of all because it is a vegetable that I have never ate due to the fact that I always thought it was bitter because of its green look. Second, eating celery has never been in my plan and also because this is something we don’t really see and eat in my country (Cote D’Ivoire). Finally, celery is very rare in my country and not so common. I decided to cook my celery with fish (tilapia). To begin I went to Lyn’s where I bought my celery. Then, when I got home, the first thing I did was washing it and cut it in small pieces. After that, I cleaned the fish and cut it in 5 pieces because it was really big. I put the fish in a big boll and seasoned it with some salt, black pepper, and parsley. I then cut some tomatoes, onions, and some garlic into big pieces. I put the cut tomatoes, onions, and garlic in the mixer and mixed them for only a couple of second. When I was done mixing up everything, I put my pan on the cooker and set the fire on. When my pan was hot enough, I added my mixed vegetables, covered it up, and let it boil for 15 minutes. Then I added my fish and celery and let them cooked for about 20 minutes. For its high percentage of water 95%, celery is considered as one of the lighter plants among vegetables and is especially suitable for whose want to lose weight (S.L Botanical 201). An example is that because 100g of this plant only have 16 calories, celery is an appropriate aliment for people who have problems with obesity. According to the Health Impact News, celery have a lot of medicinal properties such as:
