cellphone Radiation Essay
There are many conflicting claims, and studies about the cellphone radiation exposure. Some studies suggest that there is no evidence that cellphone can cause cancer, others are saying that there are credible amount of evidence that the use of cell phone cause health complication including cancer.
According to the article “Dangers of today technology” Recent research shows that cellular phones can cause health complication, including cancer. “Heavy long exposure to cell phone radiation increases risks for certain type of cancer, including Leukemia, and males impairs sperm production. Parental exposure to cell phone radiation has been shown to produce blood-brain barrier leakage and brain, liver and eye damage. The microwave radiation that heats food also creates free radical that can become carcinogenic, while the consumption of microwaved food is associated with short term decrease in white blood cells. The food and drug administration yet to recognize studies that indicates microwave oven alter foods, nutritional structure and as with the danger of cell phone use, most studies indication minimal or no health risk are, infarct, industry-sponsored”.(P-39-40) Now that the evidences are there, what can we do to protect ourselves? And how much radiation is too much and how can we measure radiation? Do the skeptics object? What the tech industries are saying about the radiation of cellphone? And how can we analyze this?
As the technological revolution continues to spread and prosper, more people become dependent upon these technological devices. The most popular and considered to be the most convenient technology of them all is the cell phone. Cellular phone was to making calls and texting, but today an average Cell user not only makes text and calls, but can also update a status on Facebook in a few seconds, download live music, surf the internet and even video chat with friends and family. According to Dr. George Carlo, former chief scientist of the

In today’s world this happens as well. However, other, more commonplace technologies have negative side effects to people’s physical health every day. Cell phones, small that they are in comparison to a nuclear reactor, give off radiation all the time. They use it to send signals to cell phone towers, but these waves can be very bad for humans.…

Radiation is all over the place, and cannot be escaped. But the amount that one is exposed to can be lowered. Cell phones do not generate large amounts of radiation, but give off an amount similar to that of a large toaster oven. With over 300 million cell phone subscribers in the United States alone, it is not hard to see why this could cause a problem (CNN Health). Tissues in close contact to a radiation-emitting device will absorb radiation, so when one holds a cell phone near their face for an extended period of time, the radiation enters his/her body through the skin (National Cancer Institute). Over the last decade, research on radiation has increased tremendously, but there were no prior studies performed, especially on children. Through recent studies, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has listed cell phones as “possibly carcinogenic to humans.” New studies, launched in 2010, are tracking individuals for twenty to thirty years monitoring their health related to their cell phone use (Cancer Risk).…

One of the main reason cell phones might have the potential to harm us human beings are because of a form of electromagnetic radiation called radiofrequency energy. Electromagnetic radiation can be categorized in two types: ionizing and non-ionizing (National Cancer Institute). Here is why this is a problem, exposure to ionizing radiation is known to increase the risk of cancer. However, in regards to non-ionizing radiation, like microwaves and ovens, there is currently no evidence that relates non-ionizing radiation to a risk…

This article talks about how cell phones are not linked to cancer. According to Danish researchers, the biggest study ever consisting of 350,000 people found no evidence of any link. This concluded that people who have used a cell phone for a decade don’t have different cancer rates than those who have not. Last year, a different study found no connection between cell phones and cancer. But it showed a possible connection between heavy phone usage and glioma, a brain tumor that is rare but deadly. However, this information was not enough to support the case. That study of over 14,000 people in many countries, along with animal experiments, led to classifying electromagnetic energy from cell phones as possibly carcinogenic along with coffee and gasoline engine exhaust. But cell phones don’t issue the same radiation that is used in medical tests or found in radon soil so there might not be a risk. The Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Communications Commission have no evidence of cell phones being linked to cancer but people still have fears of getting it, although cancer rates have not risen since cell phones were introduced. Researchers have updated a recent study examining 358,403 cell phones users 30 years of age and older in Denmark from 1990 to 2007. They found that cell phone users did not have a higher risk of cancer than those without them. Cell phone users also aren’t more likely to develop a tumor in a part of the brain where phones are held against the head. About three-quarters of the world’s population use a cell phone. This makes it difficult for scientists to compare cancer rates between users and non-users. The advocacy group MobileWise said that the Danish study wasn’t enough to consider the long-term risk since brain tumors can take decades to develop. In about 30 other studies, those with brain tumors…

Cell phones and other mobile technology devices have completely revolutionized the everyday lives of people all over the globe. I’m sure that anyone reading this right now owns a cell phone or at least knows several people who do own cell phones. Many people rely on cell phones and other mobile communication devices to proceed through their everyday lives. According to the U.N. Telecom Agency Report, there are at least 6 billion cell phone subscribers throughout the world (Goldberg). There are a little over 7 billion people living in the world ("How Many People Are There in the World?") so it is pretty obvious that cell phones are extremely common and are used by most people all over the planet.…

Another quote from source 5, “The epidemiologists explains that their is a discovery that cell phones protect against cancer and suspect that they may cause cancer.” This is because they believe the first has no mechanism and the second may have unknown one. In conclusion, in articles there are stories that people might have brain tumors because of talking on their phones. However, it's not a scientific…

Mobile phones release microwave frequencies and other radiations that are the same as those used in radar and your microwave oven. These radiations impose great danger to our body and its functions. Finland's Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority reports that one hour of exposure to mobile phone radiation can cause human cells to shrink. While the Journal of Cellular Biochemistry reports, that microwave frequencies emerging from cell phones cause cancer and other diseases by interfering with cellular DNA. Many scientists have proved that these radiations encourage the human cells to age quickly. Moreover, Italian scientists have recently demonstrated that cell phone radiation makes cancerous cells grow aggressively. Also, some note that even tiny doses…

With cell phones, what we cannot see is one of the concerns of health everyone should taken into account. To remain wireless and portable cell phones emit an invisible electromagnetic wave to stay in contact with the network provider. They are so powerful that too much exposure can damage brain cells and cause cancer. Yet, people had neglected this knowledge simply because the appearance of a cell phone does not underlies this potential health hazard. Ask yourself why every time people had to turn off their cell phones on a plane and you will see that the radiation is strong enough to distort the plane's communication system. How could it be harmless? Most texting requires the phone to be near the user and considering the time most people spent texting it is definitely not minimum exposure. The more shocking truth we must acknowledge is how young the cell phone users are getting. In this high-tech world people always wanted the latest and the best and kids are no exceptions. What would have been a great birthday present a few years ago would now be replaced by demands of mobiles and iPods. The younger you are the more easily damaged your brain is and hearing about toy-makers making cell phones targeted at the younger age group is suicidal. This really makes one think: Why is no one doing anything to prevent…
