Abstract
This project is about Censorship in television and movies: How it has changed throughout the years. This project will describe the past television shows and major movie productions’ use of nudity, profanity, and violence and what they did to protect censorship in our homes. This project will show that in our new day and age censorship is being pushed to the limit, the children of our nation will hear and see violence, profanity, and nudity through their lifetimes.
Information for this project was secured from various sources such as, books, internet websites, and government documents. Also, included with the project will be interview from various adults, seniors, and children so that they can explain their view on censorship.
This project intends to demonstrate that even though you trust you children to watch appropriate show we can’t help what comes on every channel.

The main purpose of this report is to learn and educate people of censorship over the years. Censorship is “the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body”. Many factors have influenced me and my partner to do our project on how censorship in American television, media, and films has changed over the years. Most of these influences come from lessons in our English I class about The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and many other classic novels

Nowadays, we probably take for granted that the majority of films created in Hollywood have no moral or content boundaries whatsoeverAlthough today the boundaries might seem a little blurred, it was not always like this. The censorship process in Hollywood films (as well as in many other media) is a process that has grown and fluctuated along with American society. Behind many of these films there have been struggles, debates, and confrontations of ideas to have power over what could be shown. Films have always been a main target for censorship, primarily because movies are a major audiovisual form of entertainment and mass communication with a tremendous power over the public.…

This caused multiple theaters in the NYC Area to close down. By the 1920’s, most American protestant cities were being called for federal regulation. The year is now 2016 and censorship still plays an important role in the film industry and also our society.…

Censorship, in true form, is the systematic banning of books, the Internet, or other literature due to content that has been deemed inappropriate. In the United States, it is used widely in the context of adolescent literature. Resistors to this movement often claim that the government is violating many children’s first amendment rights. Numerous cases have been brought. Others find this act of restricting material devastating to the education system. Censorship in Canada takes varies forms through different mass media to standardize the freedom of expression in public. The government control and regulation are deep-rooted in film industry since movies have been shown in theatres since early 1990s. Film censorship often examines the issues of obscenity and sexuality on the stand of Canada’s Criminal code. It also reflects government’s policy on protecting public interest and maintaining community standards (Quinn, 2009). Censorship is caused when books, movies, etc. are examined, and unacceptable parts are suppressed or the whole thing is banned. Schools nationwide have been banning books due to reasons such as racial issues, sexual explicit content, religious affiliations, violence, political bias, encouragement of “damaging” lifestyles, and etc. Often it is argued that banning books protects students from being exposed to inappropriate content, while others say that students should have the freedom to read what they want.…

Censorship is an action that may seem well thought out, but is actually an ineffective and impractical stance of approaching violence in movies. Instead of developing solutions on how to shelter society, one should devote time to educating the youth on the dangers of violence and teach them the difference between fantasy and reality. This way, the United States of America will be safer and keep its capitalistic mindset in…

What is Censorship? It is the practice of officially examining books, movies, film, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts. Censorship usually takes place based on religious, moral, or personal reasons. In Film, censorship has taken many turns and it is continuing to encounter many conflicts. Broadcasting organizations along with the FCC (Federal Communications Center) and the AFA (American Family Association) are supposedly doing everything in their power to ensure that no indecency airs. Despite these claims and attempts, failure is inevitable due to the continual growth in immorality and societies thrive off of indecency. Today, everyone has access to all types of media, and in order to ensure that the viewers are watching age appropriate material is up to the parents to censor their children, not the government organizations.…

    | Film censorship becomes necessary because a film motivates thought and action and assures a high degree of attention and retention as compared to the printed word. The combination of act and speech, sight and sound in semi darkness of the theatre with elimination of all distracting ideas will have a strong impact on the minds of the viewers and can affect emotions. Therefore, it has as much potential for evil as it has for good and has an equal potential to instill or cultivate violent or bad behaviour. It cannot be equated with other modes of communication. Censorship by prior restraint is, therefore, not only desirable but also necessary…
