The dark clouds played their loud drums and collided with one another for a resounding kiss, which caused its mouths to drool, that fell hard on the Earth like a boxer smashing his opponent with all his might. Wilbercht Schmidt had just locked the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, at 10:05 PM, and was about to cross the road which was already wounded by the weight of cars, but now, due to the hard rain, its wounds were even more vulnerable. Wilbercht was as white as a sheet, due to the fact that someone had been shadowing his footsteps. He had got into his car, and started to drive. He saw another red car through his mirror, following his, but it looked blur to him. After 10: 38 pm, Wilbercht’s sense of being followed was over and the car vanished. Albert Kelvin Patrick was enjoying the radiant serene morning as sunlight poured through his bedroom window. Then suddenly, his phone started chirping and fighting with his table, but it was Albert who called the war off.
“Mr. Albert, Agent 7. Please report to the MI8 Headquarters at 10 AM sharp.”
“I’m working on a new case?”
“Yes, sir. You are expected to meet Tyranvetz Karpov at room 11. A new client is waiting for you, sir.”
“Name, please?”
“Thank you, sir”
“Wait!”
The phone got disconnected abruptly. Albert was pondering about the phone call. He was so curious and started getting ready. He soon was on his heels and reached the headquarters at 9:45 AM. The hair covering his body started drooling from top to toe. But Albert wasn’t the only one sweating out a topographic copy of the Nile River. He saw his new unwell client, gasping and puffing and panting.
“We’ve got this new client, Wilbercht Schmidt, curator of the Pergamon Museum, here in Berlin”, said Tyranvetz

    Whose Reality

    • 1383 Words
    • 6 Pages

Its 9pm on a Sunday and I can feel the first of the rain as its droplets catch on my outstretched palms. There’s something very humbling about the rain. It’s one of nature’s great forces, and completely escapes our control. When the rain comes, it doesn’t account for petty human drama, politics and cultural divisions. I ponder this thought as I round the bend and turn down the next street. The rain is a reminder that above all else, we are at the whim of mother nature. Beyond our constructed realities and perception of modern society lies a force mar more powerful than humanity. This is a somewhat overwhelming thought, and instantly I long for togetherness and company, but I must remind myself that I am a stranger here. Through the windows of the houses lining this street, people go about their lives to the sound of the rain on their rooftops. Perhaps some of them are experiencing similar thoughts to my own? Raindrops slide down my forehead and drip from my brow onto my eyelids- the water blurs my vision. In this dreamlike state, I wander forwards, the lights around me shifting, darting and sliding in the darkness. At this bizarre moment in time I feel a sudden and uncontainable urge to peer through the windows of the houses that surround me, to catch an insight into the lives of these strangers. Through each window lies a different truth, and I am suddenly all too eager to explore these realities- lives that occur in spite of the rain.…

All day long Orloff had paced his cell. The blackness of the sky outside was equaled only by the blackness of his thoughts. The deep rolling of the thunder reverberated through the thick stone walls of his prison, and every now and then a fitful gust of rain swirled through the tiny broken window, wetting his face as he stared out into the night. Orloff cursed, wiped the water from his face with his grimy fingers, and turned to pacing his cell once more.…

In the meanwhile, I had to drain him and dress him, if his machete insulation would stick together again. His drain tap had no threads so I could not use a garden hose. Opening, the tap to its full capacity, I literally ran back and forth with buckets of water to the sewer. hole. Three hours later, I stood exhausted, sopping wet with sweat as the last pail of water brought Fred back to operating level just as the Gas man arrived. I always wondered why there were such large holes in the plaster around the water pipe holes next to the registrars and I would soon find out.” As Fred reheated, he developed air locks and releases and when these made their way up through the pipes, the registrars on the floors above literally jumped off the floor! Everybody arrived home after church to a house that was more alive with bangs and reverberations than we could have ever imagined. It was like living in a sauna, the humidity was so high in the whole house that the floors and stairs no longer creaked. Everything was swollen and tight. While all this was going on, I patiently persevered in the redressing of Fred with fistful after fistful of paper machete insulation. The sweat poured off both of us! Finally Fred came to his full stature, more portly than ever with a slight lean to the right. He was a work of desperation and…
