Centuries By Fall Out Boys: Song Analysis
My song that I chose is Centuries by Fall Out Boys, because 8th grade felt like it was centuries long.
One relation between 8th grade and the song can be seen in the line “just one mistake, is all it will take”, which is how I felt about almost every test throughout the year. I felt with mostly Bs in my classes, a few mistakes could make or break my grade, which may not have been the intended meaning of the line. "Just one mistake, is all it will take" to get you killed, well... maybe I wouldn't be dead but my grade certainly would be.
This quote could also apply to every presentation I had to give in 8th grade. Presentation were definitely one of the worst things school does. I would much rather just write a paper. My stage fright made

Twenty One Pilots is an alternative/indie band made up of two members, Joseph and Josh Dunn. They are known to occasionally rap and include specific tempos and beats that correspond with each song’s thought provoking lyrics. In the song “Oh. Ms. Believer” by Twenty One Pilots they use the analogy of snow to describe a young girl going through depression. The band accurately describes the feeling of being trapped inside one's mind as they go through the hardships of this mental illness. Although at first this song may be interpreted as another cliché alternative hit, the meanings hidden beneath the lyrics are sure to tug at the listener's heart strings as he/she looks through the eyes of someone who struggles with a loved one who is depressed.…

The song “Kevin by Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and Leon Bridges, was in my opinion incredibly gloomy. First finding out that Kevin and Macklemore where drug addict was the first shocker. The song, per se did not declare Macklemore as an addict, but the context in the song told otherwise. Also it was sad finding out that Kevin died from overdose most likely, while Macklemore is still alive to see a friend die and from the song this was not the first or last death of a friend he would see. Now with friends that were with him dying from most likely drug abuse, Macklemore created for those who have a drug addiction so one could suffer the same pain he is feeling.…

After I annotated this song and actually looked into what the lyrics were saying I learned that not everyone is who you think they are. For instance, you hide a lot of things from people not because you want to ,but because you don’t know how to tell them or maybe you’re afraid of what they will think of you. In the song ‘Demons’ by Imagine Dragons the singer says,”I wanna hide the truth’(Imagine dragons line 8 box 3) ,but then he says,” don’t want to hide the truth.”( Imagine Dragons line 35 box 8) I think that he is having mixed feelings what he should do. He is afraid that if he tells you that you may leave him or you won’t look at him the same way ever again.…

The breakfast club has one of the most unique and memorable soundtracks of all time. Something that made the movie gave it such a memorable track and the movies “theme song”, "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by the band Simple minds. Something that the movie did that not none to many movies had done at that point. They used this song twice, once at the beginning at once at the end. The two times this song is played in this movie, each function is shown. It shows genre because the movie was release in 1985 and this is around the time new wave music (the song’s genre) became popular. It sets the mood both at the beginning and at the end of the movie. It sets mood at the beginning because of the tempo and rhythm makes…

I feel like this paragraph is important because of people being judgmental. If people knew before they had a presentation that they were not going to get judged or made fun of they would be more relaxed and this would result in a better presentation. I know this because this happens to me before every presentation I do I start getting really nervous because I don’t know anyone in the room, and if I knew that they wouldn’t be judged on any mistakes I made I wouldn’t hesitate to present my paper or project. If all classmates encouraged one another and had their classmates back, I feel like there would be a lot less stress in a classroom.…

“Talking shit about a pretty sunset,” is a song that portrays an overall apathetic outlook on life. The listener can clearly hear the discontent expressed in the words sung and the execution in the music. Thoughts of suicide, phobia of commitment, lack and gain of motivation, fixation and illusions of a better life are all present. Through the complex breaks and climax of the song, tells an emotional story of revelation, realization and self-actualization.…

This song by Red Hot Chilli Peppers discusses the way of how it feels “on the road” and how it colartes between oneself juxtaposed to the U.S. road. It perfectly represents my topic of going outside and seeing the greater landscapes of my community and witnessing events I always wanted to explore. “Road Trippin” shows my journey that I wish can do during this semester or try to experience in the future after high school and college. Places I wish to travel to in the coming years of my adult life during college or after college. How those feelings can change who I am and how it can relate to the negative feelings I feel inside to how those feelings can be changed.…

The song that I chose to analyze is “Changes” by Tupac Shakur. The late Tupac Shakur was an African American rapper who was shot dead years ago. His powerful lyrics have impacted the rap industry to this day, because he spoke the truth. His lyrics directly related to his everyday struggles, and how being a successful African American is not an easy task to achieve. Rap usually talks about events of everyday life, and the song “Changes” talks about racial profiling, poverty, and how racism affects the everyday life of African American people. Note that this song came out in about 1996 where things were different, however the lyrics of this song still ring in the ears of people who are affected by the evil of racism.…

Nickelback's song If Everyone Cared has a lot of different ways that it can be interpreted. First you could say that this song is a very religious. With lines like "Singing Amen, I'm alive" obviously Amen is a religious term which leads people to think that this song is about God. Another part is the chorus "If everyone cared and nobody cried, If everyone loved and nobody lied, If everyone shared and swallowed their pride, We'd see the day when nobody died." If people cared and believed, lived by the way of God, then the whole world would be better place and more peaceful place. You can also see how this song could be about being in love. With lines like "I never dreamed that you'd be mine, but here we are, we're here tonight." It sounds like they are singing about a chance that they get, to be with a girl and how their dreams are coming true. Also later in the song the verse "And as we lie beneath the stars, We realize how small we are, If they could love like you and me Imagine what the world could be. Once again you get confused because it makes you think that this about two people being in love but then you could take the lyrics as a person looking into the heavens at God and saying if other people loved and cared as much and me and you they world would be a great place. Thought this song you also see a world peace issue being raised. The music video to this song makes you think that it's a song about world peace. It doesn't matter what the music video makes you think this song should mean whatever you feel from it. If you think its about God or love or world peace then let it mean that to…
