Uncle Joseph couldn’t speak for a while, but that did not stop him from supporting and caring for his family and community. I think the way Edwidge told her story about her life was very expressing. She described all the events so good, that I could picture it in my head. Through her words, I felt that Uncle Joseph was a strong man that did not let anything bring him down. He stood up for what he believed. He always managed to help other people. For example he took care of his niece and nephew for more than ten years. Even after having his struggles with the American forces, the Bel Air gangs and being detained by the U.S. Customs, he still remained strong and did not give up.…

Mary Rowlandson” captures her reader’s attention as she describes being taken by the natives and how she was thankful that God had given her the courage and strength to keep going during those difficult times. In her narratives she confesses, “ I remember in the night session, how the other day I was in the midst of thousands of enemies, and nothing but death before me. It is the hard work to persuade myself, that ever I should be satisfied with bread again, But now we are fed with the finest of the wheat, and, as I may say, with honey out of the rock... Oh! The wonderful power of God that mine eyes have seen, affording matter enough for my thoughts to run in, that when others are sleeping mine eyes are weeping” …” I have seen the extreme vanity of this world: One hour I have been in heath, and wealthy, wanting nothing. But the next hour I sickness and wounds, and death, having nothing but sorrow and affliction” …” I have learned to look beyond present and smaller troubles, and to be quieted under them. The Church has held Mary’s perpetual virginity as a dogma, and it is also true that it has brought about distrust and doubt. This skepticism towards Mary’s virginity has grown through out the history of man kind. At the very heart of this dogma lies the credence of the Church and of the Magisterium, who have the proficiency to maintain Mary’s perpetual virginity as an absolute truth. This upholding has perpetually led to the debate of whether Mary, Mother of Jesus, was in fact a virgin through out her entire life. Many see this affirmation as impossible, nonetheless the Church has always believed Mary remain a virgin “during childbirth and after childbirth.” Conversely many people do agree with this statement for the mere belief that the Bible…

Campin’s use of vibrant colors in Mary and Gabriel’s flowing gowns against the neutral background of the room bring the viewer’s eye to the center panel where the triptych’s story begins. Mary is sitting on the footrest of the bench reading her bible when Gabriel suddenly appears to tell her about the plan God has for her; that she will give birth to the Christ child. While Gabriel’s words fall on Mary’s ears, a small human form descends, carrying a small cross and following what seem to be rays of light from heaven that align with Mary’s womb. During these moments of Annunciation Mary is being impregnated with Jesus.…

About two thousand years ago, in the town of Nazareth, there lived a young woman named Mary. She was engaged to be married to Joseph, a carpenter. One day an angel appeared before her and told her she had been chosen to have a special baby. The baby would be God's son and she must call him Jesus. Soon after the angel's visit, Mary and Joseph were married. Mary was due to have her baby when they were told they had to go on a long journey to Bethlehem, which was where Joseph came from. This was because they had to pay a special tax. Mary had to ride on a donkey for a few days over the hills of Galilee. At last Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem. It was crowded with other people who needed to pay their taxes. Mary was very tired and needed a place to stay. At each inn, the story was the same. There was no room for them. Eventually, one kind innkeeper said he had a stable where he kept his animals. They were welcome to stay there. And so it was that a few hours later, Mary gave birth to her son in that stable. She wrapped Jesus in strips of cloth and laid Him in a manger full of hay. At the same time, on a hillside overlooking Bethlehem, some shepherds were watching over their sheep. A bright light appeared in the sky. They were very afraid. It was an angel sent by God. The angel told them not to be afraid, because he had some good news. He said the Son of God had been born and they would find Him in Bethlehem. The shepherds wanted to go and see the baby. When they arrived at the stable, they were filled with joy at seeing Jesus lying in the manger. They knelt down and worshipped Him. They told Mary and Joseph how the angel had appeared in the sky and told them that Jesus was to be the Savior of the world. Far away in the East, Wise Men saw a new star shining high in the sky. These men studied the stars and they knew this was a very special star. They studied their scrolls where it said that whenever a bright new star appeared it meant that a great…
