He talked about the challenges and how they have been able to surmount them. They were other great speeches about the new contexts of working as a 24 hour dentist and the need to brace for the challenges in the future. It was not all speeches and medical talk as the middle of the program was enlivened with the introduction of a musical group. They sang various melodious tunes that serenaded the soul of everyone in attendance.…
Jim Valvano, better known as Jimmy V, was a men’s basketball coach in the NCAA for many years and is remembered most for coaching his North Carolina State Wolf pack squad to the 1983 national championship over the Juggernaut University of Houston team. That team established the term “Cinderella” as no one ever expected them to win the way that they won. Jim Valvano received some horrible news in the middle of 1992. His doctors told him that he had terminal cancer. Several months later, he received the Arthur Ashe Courage award at the 1993 ESPY Awards presented by ESPN. He accepted the award and gave one of the most memorable speeches in sports history where he introduced the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research that has since raised millions of dollars forcancer research.…

The speaker today is Kevin Garrett, a Christian Businessman and Entrepreneur and the President for the development of Cold Stone Creameries all around America. This lecture is about failure, and learning to succeed in the midst of failure. Mr. Garrett states that failure is required to achieve success, and I like that he talks about this, because there is a lot of failure that happens throughout life. All people fail, but only those who stand up courageously after failure can truly succeed in life. Suffering is also a part of failure, but failure does not equal suffering. Since the fall of man, people have suffered much because of the sin of man, and no one can escape this fate, even though it may be no fault of your own. While humans fall often, God can use our suffering to bring about great successes, as long as we put our faith in Christ and leave the results up to Him.…
Debra Wuichet is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from University of Tennessee. She is the Director of Social Services at North Mississippi State Hospital and has been working there for sixteen years. Her topic of the presentation was mental illnesses and schizophrenia. I really enjoyed her speech because I had little previous knowledge of mental illness. Even though I have taken a few classes that discussed the illnesses, I can understand better with stories or a way to imagine a situation and Debra provided that. Information that I thought I knew, was stuff I had assumed from watching television shows and movies. Most of that information is inaccurate.…

The Cornerstone Speech was a speech held by the American Vice president of southernmost states of the USA, Alexander Stephens at the Athenaeum in Savannah, Georgia, on March 21, 1861. The speech was delivered on the basis of the USA's desire to put an end to slavery. However, Stephens and the southern states believed that the economy was based on slave labor and therefore an end to slavery be bad for the US economy. The language of the speech is very old-fashioned and difficult to understand because it is from 1861. The speech appeal to the southern citizens, who are like Stephens believes that slavery is good for the American society.…
Adora Svitak emphasized that learning between adults and kids should be reciprocal in her presentation which is ‘What Adults Can Learn From Kids?’. Although she accepted kids learn a lot of things from adults, she asserted that kids have a lot of things to share with adults. She proved that her presentation is realistic by real examples and pictures. According to several criteria, I liked this presentation. Although little girl has some deficiency, I admired her and her courage. There are three main criteria which are used when we evaluated presentations.…
Although he struggled as a child and through his early teen years, R.G. LeTourneau grew to be successful both as a Christian and as a businessman.
