Challenges and opportunities to Eastman Kodak
Executive Summary The report is to look at the case of Eastman Kodak to discuss the challenges it has faced, and find the opportunities to the new restructured Kodak. In the report it makes use of Five Forces model, SWOT model and PESTLE model to analyse Kodak’s performance in the over 130-year. Finally, through the analysis, it concludes that the challenges of Kodak mainly come from three aspects: the fast development of digital technology, intense competition and the threat of substitutions. Because Kodak has maintained abundant patents and the economic environment is going to be recovery, the new Kodak has great opportunities to revival its business through some strategy change in investment orientation and in managment. 1.0 Introduction
Eastman Kodak Company was founded by George Eastman in 1880 and headquartered in Rochester, United States. The company was the largest manufacturer and supplier focused on imaging products and services businesses spanning the global. It was leading the way in film imaging, functional printing, graphic communications and professional services for business around the world for years. However, with the fast development of digital technology, Kodak failed to come up with its rivals, lost a great deal of market share and the annual revenue witnessed a continued drop. Consequently, Eastman Kodak, which has a long history of more than 130 years, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 19th January 2012.
The intent of this paper is to analyse the challenges and opportunities faced by Eastman Kodak. At first, this paper will discuss the prosperity and decline of Kodak through looking back upon its history. And then, it will make use of five forces

    I began writing to show how business can quickly go out of business if the owners do not keep an eye on its public. Kodak failed to meet its customer’s needs, so the company could not keep up with demands.
