Answer to Question 1 a. What is the trend of murder 1960-2012?-The rate of murder over the years remained fairly constant and only slight changes were reported. The rate of murder in 1960 is almost equal to that in 2012. b. How can one explain the trend of Forcible Rape? - From the 1960s up to 1990 the rate of forcible started going down. This is attributable to the increase in police vigilance, community police, and the possible increase in the jail terms for forcible rape.…
The September Edition of Cosmopolitan presents an advertisement about “America’s nail salon expert…since 1981,” Essie. Essie’s nail polish brand is one that targets a wide variety of women. The purpose of this ad is to find a topic that all women can relate to, and that topic is the Nineties. Elements like a huge cassette tape and the phrase “as if” transports the viewer back in time, so Essie can introduce their new line of nineties themed nail polishes. This ad’s theme of the nineties evokes nostalgia in women of all ages and connects them to the Essie brand.…

Hello my name is Chassidy Mitchem I would absolutely love to be a part of your cosmetology program. I love to do hair and, make up. Doing hair is something I enjoy doing in my free time. It’s a way to get away from people and let my mind explore into better things. I enjoy looking and trying new hair styles and colors. I have done makeup and hair for Homecoming court and Grand March. It would be an absolute dream to get into this school and have some hands on time with the things I love doing while learning more about Cosmetology. Cosmetology is very important to the world because someone will always want their hair done or make up done. Most people only want to go to a professional so they know they will be getting the best of their money. You could also be able to set up your own business around your area. I differ from a lot of my peers because no one really understands the importance of Cosmetology the way I do. Everyone thinks it useless. Cosmetology is just as important as other jobs because someone will always need you. There will always be someone needing their eye brows done or maybe there nails especially during homecoming and prom or even a wedding. I’ve talked to a couple people and got some really interesting opinions. Some people has told me I wouldn’t make it and some people has told me I would, but my motto is “Never give up, because you never know how close you are to fulfilling your dream.” I plan on getting this degree and opening my own salon and I feel that it will give me knowledge I need to know for success. I learned to do this at a young age and I feel very strong about this career. I believe this will be the field I dedicate myself to. I hope to be attending this college at whatever time the school year would…
At first glance of Cindy Jackson’s website, her only goal seems to be to try and make money. Most of her website is about selling her line of cosmetics and beauty aids along selling with her plastic surgery advice. Upon a more in depth analysis, my personal opinion is that Cindy Jackson has some serious self-image issues.…
Imagine living in the 1960’s fighting for the chance to be able on a hit dance show series. Now, imagine fighting for equal opportunities between the blacks and whites, in an area where segration between the two races is held up as an important aspect of the community. This is exactly what happened in the hit musical, Hairspray. I was able to attend this amazing musical at Washington Lee High School on April 25, 2015. Directed by Keith Cassidy, outstanding performers showed off their collaboration and effort, transporting the audience to Baltimore in 1962. Through acts of violence, progression in the fight towards equality, and some ridiculous hair, Hairspray was able to speak to audiences both of the 1960’s and of the decades beyond that.…

Cindy Jackson in my opinion has major issues. She thinks beauty is on the outside and does whatever she can to make herself look like an imaginary person. It seems to me that she is doing all this to try to make money. Her website is all about selling cosmetics. In which I am betting she doesn’t even use herself, because if there is a flaw in her mind she corrects it with surgery, so why does she need cosmetics? I think that her self-esteem is still extremely low even after all the surgeries and it has been from the start.…
The online store will have a custom-made layout that is both functional and practical for the customers to have an easy time exploring the website. The main page will display the featured products such as the Pantone line of products bringing special attention to these products, giving them more traffic. Once the store takes off, the goal is to have a store front in Portland, OR where cruelty-free makeup at a reasonable cost is in high demand. Depending on the success of this storefront, others are planned for sites in Seattle, WA, New York, NY, and Los Angeles, CA. Having a store front would allow the customers to test the makeup before they buy it and find the shades and styles that they want. Allowing the customer to test the makeup will also lead to them bringing more people into the shop with them that could end up being potential customers. As well, people walking by the store may be curious and come in. In the future, a partnership between companies such as Sephora and Ulta may form, though in the beginning stages of the company, the primary goal will be getting the name out to the…
On February 26th, 2016, I entered a pageant with the hopes and dreams of becoming Miss Naturalista USA. Being apart of an organization like no other, I expected such a high quality event with many sponsors, bloggers, and educators that represented the natural hair community. Before entering into the pageant the Lord showed me that I was crowned Miss California Naturalista USA. It was my first beauty pageant, and the first natural beauty pageant that I had came across. Many things seemed fine once I submitted everything, however the communication lacked. I still proceeded with the pageant with the hopes and dreams that everything will be okay. However, it was not.…
Recently is seems that more and more girls under the age of eleven are starting to wear makeup, but why? They do not need to their still children. First, many feel that makeup causes damage to the skin, for both older women and younger women. It can be especially damaging to the skin of younger children. Besides, do young children really need to wear makeup? Of course, we all get that awkward stage and you start not liking the way you look. Many doctors feel that this is just one of the growing pains of life. This may be very difficult for a pre-teen girl to accept. Another reason why some parents feel that young girls should not wear makeup is because they will not learn to appreciate their own natural beauty. Of course, most pre-teens do not even want to hear that .It does damage your skin badly; however, it is okay to wear make-up sometime for a special occasion. However, the majority of them did feel that it is important not to overdo it on the makeup. Just a little lip-gloss should be okay. Some of the pre-teens begin to get skin irritations from the makeup. The bottom line is that many parents feel that allowing young children to wear makeup can be hazardous to third skin, but if it is just for fun then it is ok. I am sure that we could all come up with dozens of reasons why young girls should not wear makeup, but it is the parent's decision. We should not look down at the any parent who chooses to allow their child to wear makeup at a young age.…
