Chalmers Vs Descartes Dualism

Chalmers dualism does not resemble that of Descartes because Chalmers identifies himself with naturalistic dualism (physicalism). Chalmers makes it clear, "The dualism implied here is instead a kind of property dualism: conscious experience involves properties of an individual that are not entailed by the physical properties of that individual, although they may depend lawfully on those properties. Consciousness is a feature". Chalmers explains that consciousness cannot be explained in physical properties because consciousness itself isn't physical. The contrast is clear between Chalmers and Descartes, Descartes explains dualism as a substance as oppose to Chalmers whom describes dualism as a property.
