Chance May Crown Me, Without My Force In Macbeth's '
This quote was said by Macbeth, before he killed Duncan, and became King. Here Macbeth says “ Chance will have me king, Chance may crown me, without my force”. Macbeth is saying that he will let Chance take its course, instead of him bulging in, knocking on the door and forcibly dethrone Duncan, taking the title as King. The way I see Macbeth's tone when he is say this quote is calm, relaxed, and patient. Overall his tone and his actions appears to be a let nature takes it course. This is also Fair is Foul, because what seems fair for Macbeth and the outcome will be foul. Where everything will come up against him.

Macbeth by William Shakespeare reveals the quote through conflict and irony. Three witches prophesied to Macbeth that he will be king. His first conflict is that he must make a sacrifice. To kill a friend, King Duncan, in order to take the throne. The witches also prophesied that Banquo's sons will be king, thus begins Macbeth's second conflict. He must have his best friend Banquo's son killed in order to protect his throne. These conflicts reveal the quote because killing both King Duncan and Banquo's son is a huge sacrifice. Irony also proves the quote. Before Macbeth even kills Duncan he is given the title Thane of Cawdor, which the one before him was a traitor. This is ironic because later Mabeth becomes a traitor and kills Duncan. The irony in this story reveals the quote because by given the name "Thane of Cawdor" foreshadows that Macbeth will lose his pride and honor.…

At the start of the play Macbeth is brave and loyal and displays many of the attributes of a great king. However after conversing with the three witches his state of mind goes on a downward spiral eventually ending in his demise. His thirst for power and wealth cause him to act foolishly and with haste rather than waiting to see if the witches’ predictions come true. It is clear from Macbeths reaction to King Duncan telling Malcom that he will be Prince of Cumberland that Macbeths desires have already started to take a toll on his mind ‘That is a step on which I must fall down, or else o'erleap, For in my way it lies.’ (I. IV. 48). This clearly shows that ambition is taking away Macbeths rational thoughts and he is choosing to act without thought towards the consequences and is only focused on his goal of becoming…

The above quote is fairly self-explanatory. Macbeth says it after witches tell him that he will be king. He is assuming that since they told him that he will be king, that it is destined to happen, without any further action on his part. However, Macbeth himself later contradicts this when he kills the king in order to assure his own rise to power, and is seen even before that when Duncan names Malcolm the Prince of…

Macbeth shares information as important as becoming king with his wife, which one can assume he most likely would not have done if he believed the Weїrd Sisters to be telling lies. Even though Macbeth accepts what the witches have told him as truth, he still struggles with his free will and means of fulfilling the prophecy. When speaking with Lady Macbeth, he rejects her plan to kill King Duncan, the reigning King, and tells her that they will, “proceed no further in this business”(1.7.34). Macbeth begins this scene by having new information about his future proposed to him, and questioning how, and if, it is to come to be. By the end of the scene, he has accepted the inevitable outcome, yet still holds on to the means by which it is to happen.…

Macbeth, a 16th century play written by William Shakespeare tackles many relevant issues from the time, including: the role of a monarch, political violence, and the nature of power. Shakespeare uses the Macbeths’ turbulent relationship with power to express his own views on the topic of illegitimate monarchy. Illegitimate monarchy is when the throne is obtained through uncalled for regicide, specifically if the murdered King or Queen was considered to be a benevolent ruler. Shakespeare uses the graphic image of deceased infants to underscore the lengths the Macbeths will go to for power. The image often appears in the play when a significant event relating to the Macbeths’ attainment, preservation, or loss of power occurs. This is because…

In The Tragedy of Macbeth, Shakespeare exposes to the audience how a character can be override by fate and free will. The scene starts out with Macbeth pondering about whether their plan to murder the king is a good idea. He knows that he should be a loyal subject, have honor, and treat his guests with better care. Macbeth reasons that King Duncan has been a great king who cares about his country and there is no reason for him to be put to death. When Lady Macbeth enters, Macbeth tells her he has second thoughts. Noticeably surprised, she starts out using Pathos which is appeal based on emotion. Lady Macbeth tries to draw an emotional response from Macbeth by asking him if he would rather see himself as a coward and let “I dare not” come before “I would”. Once Macbeth responds, he says he will do what he should as a man. Lady Macbeth challenges his words by saying that if he were a man, something like killing the king should be easy.…
