What this demonstrates in Macbeth is that he wants to keep his throne and that he does not want to lose it. It also shows that he is obsessed with the power and that he will do anything to keep his power. Not only does it show that he is obsessed with power it also shows how his paranoia is worsening and worsening because he keeps thinking that Banquo’s son will come after him and take him down. This goal for him is present throughout the rest of the play. He kill Duncan to get power and he hired people to kill Banquo. So his objective does not change in the new scene because he still will do anything to keep his power. He allows Lady Macbeth to be the third murder so they could kill Banquo and Fleance. He is presenting himself as to take any chances to get what he wants. The challenge that he faces at first is that Lady Macbeth at first tells him that he is a good person and he is their friends. So there were two murders hired to kill Banquo and Fleance. In Act 3 scene 3 a third murder joins to kill Banquo and Fleance, but there was no scene where a third murder was hired to join them. So this would make sense in terms of that Lady Macbeth know and recognize Banquo. The third murder is the one that says that is Banquo approaching. The person has known him for a while because the third murder states “Almost a mile; but he does usually” that he always does so this demonstrates that the third murder knows what Banquo does because they must have live in the castle for a while. So Lady Macbeth became the third murder because Macbeth and her are a team and they would not let do anything without each other. Since they kill Duncan together they would kill everyone else together. Just like they kill everyone together they would have to have a secret conversation about the topic. In Act 5 scene 1 the result of Lady Macbeth illness is all the murders like Duncan and Banquo. In the script as well does the other question it is not present. So the only way that Lady Macbeth could have find out was through Macbeth because he is only one that actually knew. So this is where the idea of then having a secret conversation came from and it was successful because Lady Macbeth is told by Macbeth what is to
