I believe that the people under Augustus must have been filled with so much prosperity and hope. He helped transform Rome in so many ways. If I were to put myself in their shoes I would be very impressed. They didn’t have any type of technology that we have now to be able to build such incredible things. Emperor Claudius created the Porta Maggiore (pg 258 fig. 10-34) it’s two gateways that supported the water channels. His type of style was more of a rustic masonry style. Nero was stepson to Claudius and under Nero’s ruling, a great fire came to be destroying many parts of Rome. The part left untouched by the fire had to be brought up to code by using concrete. During this process, Nero asked two architect/engineers to create a new palace for him on land that the fire had destroyed thus the Golden House of Nero was created. Nero’s palace was very extravagant with an octagonal hall and many more features (pg 259 fig. 10-35). Nero wasn’t so pleasant as an emperor so he was forced into taking his own life a new emperor named Vespasian Flavius took his place.
