According to the passage, the Lincoln penny had the initials of the designer, Victor D. Brenner on it. Americans complained the initials were too big and needed to be removed. This resulted in them removing them and later putting them back on, just smaller. Nowadays pennies from 1909 are very valuable and rare.
The next change was more of one to the makeup of the penny. In 1941 the United States entered WWII. In that time the penny was made of 5% tin and zinc, and 95% copper. Because we were in war, we needed
these for airplanes, ships, and guns. This was when the U.S Mint started using steel to make pennies. In 1944 they stopped making steel pennies and went back to making tin, zinc, and copper pennies.
For the last change made to the lincoln penny. The U.S Mint discontinued the pennies made with the wheat stalks and started putting the memorial of lincoln where it had been. They did this so Americans would have something to celebrate lincoln's 150th birthday. Now that lincoln's memorial was on the penny people were able to honor him more.
In conclusion the lincoln penny has taken many various forms. From the makeup of the penny when they changes it from copper to steel, or from the look of the penny, like the initials. But how many more will it take?
