Chappaqua Crossing: Case Study
The historic building which sits high above the Saw Mill Parkway at Roaring Brook Road, and once the global headquarters of Reader’s Digest, may appear to be going through a long overdue renovation. Inside the walls, however, some of Chappaqua’s most prominent large-scale operations are underway, including the expansion of Chappaqua Crossing, which currently contains offices and medical space. Construction crews have been working tirelessly to prepare the property for new additions. The building will soon anchor new shopping venues including: a Life Time Fitness Center, Chase Bank, AT&T, GoHealth Urgent Care and Pet Valu, and largest of all, a new 40,000 square foot Whole Foods Market. The plans involving Whole Foods intentions to occupy part of Chappaqua Crossing was first divulged to the public in late 2013. Summit Development and Greenfield Partners, the owners of the property, signed a lease in 2014 as stated by the Westchester County Clerk’s office. The project itself, however, will be completed in a collaboration with Summit and The Grossman Companies Inc. The agreement between Summit, Greenfield, and Whole Foods, allows the supermarket to inhabit the space for 20 years with an option to extend to 25 years. According to Robert Greenstein, Chappaqua Town Supervisor, the facilities will be up and running in the fall of 2018. …show more content…

One of the advantages to being an in town store is the easy access by both public and personal transport. However a disadvantage to this is the large travel costs both paying for tickets on trains or busses but also petrol and parking costs. A second advantage in the allotted sale space can be increased and the store can have a larger floor space. For this assignment, I will be looking at High Street in Fraserburgh, which connects Saltoun Square to Broad Street. It is Fraserburgh’s busiest shopping street. With all of the shops being either independent retailers, or offices for local organisations and media outlets, it really is a haven from the conglomerates and faceless retailers that are all too common in most town centres.…

The first ever Transcontinental Railroad in America was completed with the help of the Chinese who contributed greatly to its construction. Despite the major role that the Chinese had in the construction of the railroad, they were not able to escape prejudice in America. One notable act of prejudice done by America against the Chinese prior to the completion of the railroad is the signing and passing of The Chinese Exclusion Act by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882 discontinuing Chinese laborers. Before this law was passed, between 1869 and 1882, many events happened that factored into the decision of passing the Chinese Exclusion act. Examples of these factors were that the Chinese were receiving more job than American citizens,…

Many people will push themselves to their absolute limit just to be able to save themselves. In “Zombieland”, Talllhsitty he had to risk his life by going to a game at the carnival they were at and lock themselves in it to cause a distraction so Columbus could save Wichita and Little Rock from being infected by the zombies. In a way, Farquhar’s situation is similar in the way that he had to risk his life in his fantasy land by swimming away and walking home all night to his house to keep himself from being killed. Farquhar was being shot at while he was swimming and had already been injured from being hanged. In both situations though, they had to push themselves to save them from dying. In “An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge” (AOAOCB) Bierce…

The Old Spanish Trail was a series of trails from Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Los Angeles, California. The three routes were called the Main Route, the Armijo route, and the North Branch. The trails went through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California. These trails were used for trade, including Native American goods of blankets and baskets for horses and mules from California. I choose this topic because it was a major trade route from 1829 to 1848. This is a huge part in our Western history because it helped start developing the south western part of the United States. Since this trail was fairly long I wanted to know what it was like to travel The Old Spanish Trail.…
