1. What skills does Black think employees need to work successfully in the area of HR?
They must commercial, challenging, and focused on delivery and excellence. They must understand change and transformation, excel at operations, and balance tactical and strategic thinking and activity. They should be able to manage and navigate organizational complexity and ambiguities and not be afraid to say no occasionally in order to establish appropriate boundaries with the business.
2. What are some of the outcomes of the new company’s HR strategy>
Some of the outcomes are that they changed the employees perception of HR, employees started to appreciate the transparency of the employer/ employee relationship. The company gained recognition outside the firm. They landed a spot in the top 100 Companies to work for and was named one of the Top 40 Businesses to work for.
3. What do you think might be some of the challenges of establishing HR policies for a global company?
There are many challenges when establishing HR policies for a global company. Some challenge are the culture, employment laws, different geographic locations, employees pay and benefits and taxes as well as business practices.
4. What type of situations do you think may require an HR manager to say “no”
The situations that may require the HR manager to say no is when it goes against company policy.

Basic HR functions may be difficult for small firms to execute. Even at a basic level, HR is a time consuming process. This means that a small HR team will not be very efficient. Limited Staffing, Lack of expertise, No quality Assurance are also factors of why basic HR functions sometimes are difficult for small firms to execute.
3. Why does it take time to see results to HR activities?
It takes to see changes because some employees as well as some employers are not fond of changes. They may not engage the way they supposed to and therefore put a damper on things.
