1. Holden accepts the assignation with Sunny because he believes that he will be able to actually have sex for the first time without any interruptions. Holden says that, "Something always happens"(Salinger 103). This means that something always gets in the way. Holden just wants to get his first time over with.
2. Holden is unable to consummate any physical act with Sunny because he wants to keep his innocence. The Radio City program is compared to Carl Luce because Radio City represents religion because of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and Luce represents science and Psychology because of his father. Holden does not have a source to rely on when he is in trouble. Holden mentions, "Old Luce. What a guy. He was supposed to be my Student advisor"(Salinger 158). This is showing that Luce did not do his job as advisor and this is just another example of Holden not having someone to put his trust with.
2. Holden's attempts to call Jane, but she does not answer. Then Holden calls Carl Luce. Holden calls these people because they are the only ones in his phone book. 3. Phoebe's first impression given is that she is very innocent and pure. This is shown when Holden says, "You take adults, they look lousy when they're asleep and they have their mouths way open, but kids don’t"(Salinger 176).
