Soldiers are getting exhausted from euthanizing monkeys. Rhonda Williams has a hole in her space suit. She goes outside and finds herself in front of a news van. The news people walk around the monkey house, but there is nothing interesting to them. After two soldiers take a break, a monkey gets loose. One of the soldiers decides to go into the room and try to capture the monkey. The soldiers lock the doors and leave the monkey in the room over night. All the rest of the team stay on euthanizing monkeys. These monkeys are slowly getting irritated. Williams gets moved to drawing blood, she almost gets bit when another soldier injects it with more of the sedative.
Peter Jahrling works long hours in his office. he works to try and close in on the virus and how it spreads. if he and his partner, Geisbert, close in on the virus before any other person, they have the honor to name it. Jahrling tests their blood regularly ever since they smelled a virus filled flask. Luckily none of the test pieces have glowed under ultraviolet light. in a couple of days, they will find out if they are infected with the virus or not. …show more content…
Reflection: I thought this part of the book was good and suspenseful.
It kept you on your feet and actually pulled you into the book. I think that if I had this kind of job, I would try my best and keep my mind on my work. I would give up my social life just to know that I would be able to help contain this virus. If I could help millions of people stay safe, I would feel that I did my job the best of my ability. That I succeeded at making the world a better and safer
place.
