Character Analysis: Dreaming In Indian
Each person has a story. Places they’ve been, their experiences, and culture. In the book Dreaming in Indian, the authors have taken a collection of stories and put them into this book to display the Native American voices that these stories demonstrate. For example, in the book the author writes about a model named Ashley Callingbull who displays her culture through the clothing she received from generations past. Her voice is unique because it shows that she is proud of where she comes from and that she probably wouldn’t change herself because someone told her too. Especially in this world where stereotypes are strictly common. Another example where this theme is displayed is a poem in this book where a girl named Karina Rain Dominguez

    As we learned in class, the Pueblo Indians is a specific group of Native Americans found in central New Mexico to northeastern Arizona. The Laguna Pueblo Reservation in found between Albuquerque and Los Alamos, New Mexico. The conflicts between the Pueblos and the whites began in the sixteenth century, when the Spanish decided to settle within the area of the Pueblos. After the Mexican-American war, the United States took control of the area surrounding the reservation. The use of storytelling is used in traditional Native American culture and is portrayed throughout the novel.
