As a young officer, Gatsby was impressed by what Daisy represented, old money and a life full of luxuries. When Gatsby found out Nick is Daisy’s cousin, he asked nick for help. “He wants to know, if you’ll invite Daisy to your house afternoon and then let him come over” (Fitzgerald 78).
