We know through the book that crooks, admist his different, is an intelligent person with his various books in his room , of which one of them being California Civil Code of 1905, this addressing the issues of colored rights. This is just one of the aspects in which portray crooks attitude to how he is being be treated , also affecting his American dream.
For much of the time that we know him, I do not think that Crooks has a vivid portrayal of his American dream. I think that he doesn’t show it as much as others due to him being casted out.as, He wants to be accepted and not to be an outcast because of his skin colour.
