Leslie Edwards (Matthew Perry), a clumsy aristocrat, and the hilarious Bartholomew Hunt (Chris Farley) are competing against the famous Lewis & Clark to be the first to chart and make it across the United States to the Pacific Ocean. In the beginning of the film, Edwards has high hopes to head the first expedition to make it across the U.S., but while he has the want and the money, he is a sheltered man who knows nothing of the wilderness. To aid in his journey, he hires the services of a supposedly knowledgeable wilderness-man and tracker, Hunt, who, once they get underway, turns out to be less than advertised (too good to be true haha). Aided by a crew of various rugged frontiersmen, they are also joined by their group's version of Sacagawea, a young Indian woman by the name Shaquinna (incredible), who plays a big part in helping them find their way across the dangerous and unknown land ahead, as well as, eventually becoming Edwards' love interest.…

Firstly, Eddie has pulled over by the police while he is drunk on the road. Perhaps this is an event for him to stay calm and become more realistic. Although the police let him go, he is already humiliated by the police. After that, Eddie starts to dance the island dance. The dance is very significant. Although he suffered earlier racist treatment, this moment shows the audience that Eddie will not be beaten. He has pride in his soul, in his ancestry and his culture.…

Into the Wild is not only an outstanding novel, but it has also been recreated in the form of a movie, which is flawless in itself and is accompanied by a soundtrack that is hard to forget. Eddie Vedder’s song, Hard Sun, is played in the beginning of the movie when Chris is initially starting his journey. He is driving on the highway in his Datsun 210, as the background music is playing, “Oh there’s a big, a big hard sun beating on the people, in a big hard world…”(Eddie Vedder). This song is not just a cover played by Pearl Jam’s one and only Eddie Vedder. It is profound in the way it portrays the life of Christopher McCandless as he starts his escape from the big hard world. Another one of Eddie’s songs, The Wolf, is played right after the flashback of when Chrisopher’s parents are fighting. It is not exactly clear to me as to what Eddie is saying when he sings this song, but it is extremely gloomy and intimidating. This song helps emphasize Chris’s feelings towards his parents and why he truly left everything behind. The name of the song, The Wolf, is possibly symbolic of Chris’s father, an aggressive and abusive man, in that his father and a wolf are both vicious and unfriendly. On a more positive note, the song Rise, by Eddie Vedder, is played a couple of times throughout the film, however, I remember the song playing as birds frolic in the ocean and Chris is subsequently climbing down a hill. Nearly every verse of this song is meaningful and relates to the film:…

This idea is introduced in the song “Who lives, who dies, who tells your story” written by Lin Manuel and performed by the original cast of Hamilton. After Hamilton has was shot in the chest, his wife is singing about how she feels after he has passed away. She is working to make sure that Hamilton is remembered, and she is “still not through” and asks herself “What would you [Hamilton] do if you had more time”. All of Hamilton's writings worked to help inspire Angelica to do more things in the community. While Hamilton was writing his ideas he was reflecting on what he was writing down. These writings, then went on to inspire Angelica and others. While Hamilton was alive, he helped inspire people to fight in the revolutionary war and to accept the new Constitution. Jon Krakauer, author of Into the Wild, has Chris McCandless help inspire others through his writings. Right before McCandless goes into the Alaskan wilderness, he writes to his friend that “I know walk into the wild.”(Krakauer). McCandless's writing goes on to inspire people to be willing to take their first steps into the unknown. Once McCandless enters the wild, he starts to reflect on his life and the world around him. He writes these reflections in the margins of novels, while some were written in his diary. Chris's life has now become a story that people from all over the world know because of his views and because of the experiences that he…
A young man, living in a comfortable civilized environment leaves society and all the benefits that he had behind him to build a new life. The novel Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer tells the story of a young man, Chris McCandless who had always believed his life ritual was based on mental knowledge. The existential mind of McCandless seemed to prove this statement true. His effort he put into his work was nothing compared to what would lie ahead on this so called “journey” of his. He loved the fact that each day he had the possibility of being exciting, different, or even dangerous. Chris was different in the way he wanted to experience life. He wanted to be alone and took no joy in the various human relationships that he had developed in his travels. Chris showed that he was a loner and did not value these relationships by his disregard for normal society and only took pleasure in challenging himself. To part from all society, one’s mind needs to be set; for once one was there, to come back would be a challenging task.…
