Perseverance - steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. In the book “Unwind”, the author develops many ideas surrounding perseverance. All of the characters in this novel can be related back to life as we know it. The examples displayed, although dramatized in certain instances, can represent the battles people of today find themselves fighting. Risa showed her own version of perseverance, right from the start. In fact, she shows minor versions of perseverance during our first glance into her life. Risa Ward, a masterful pianist, playing a song so well rehearsed it could be completed in her sleep. Despite this, when it came time to perform, mistakes were inevitably made. With aspirations as high as hers, some would have given up, simply walked off stage, yet Risa continued past the errors gracefully. This trait developed into a characteristic of survival, starting when the transport bus crashes, and she makes the instantaneous decision to run. Throughout the novel, Risa’s form of perseverance came in the technique of thinking her way out of situations and assessing the risks involved. Only when it was her best option did she resort to a physical altercation, instead she thought on her feet. These skills are something that people of today’s world strive to achieve. This type of perseverance can come in handy in everyday life, even in the most mundane ways. In fact, this can be viewed as simple problem solving and is taught to kids at a young age via the schooling
