Character Analysis On Wonder
Wonder is a beautiful story about a young boy who has a facial difference. His name is August and he is sweet, funny and smart. “I mean, he’s pretty funny. Like, the teacher will something and August will whisper something funny to me that no one else hears and totally make me crack up” (pg. 142). This shows that he is funny. Auggie has a sister named Via who is a beautiful independent girl. “Just leave me alone, okay? You've been really good about leaving me alone my whole life, so why you choose high school to suddenly be interested I have no idea...” (pg. 216). This shows that Via doesn't get much attention because of her brothers deformities and she has had to figure out everything out on her own. One of Auggie's best friends is a girl with dark hair and green eyes named Summer. She is creative and silly, “Hey, our names kind of match... Summer? August? She said... We can make this the ‘summer only’ lunch table...” (pg. 52). This shows that she is silly and creative. Auggies other best friend is Jack Will. He is a good friend. “You don't have to be friends with that freak if you don't want to be , you know... And that's when i punched him. Right in the mouth” (pg. 154). This shows that Jack is a good friend for defending Auggie, even though it isn't okay to resort to violence. The story mainly takes place at …show more content…

Then after we watched the movie I would go through the different things that Auggie did to stay true to himself. First, Auggie never gave up he still went to school everyday other then the day he said he threw up, and he never let his grades slip much. He stayed true to himself, he didn’t let the other kids change who he was on the inside, and he always kept a big heart. Even though he was different then all the other kids, he would think of something else to distract him from all the looks he got. I would also explain the importance of forming bond with the family during a rough time.…

In R.J. Palacio’s novel Wonder, the reader unearths major details of August’s school life from excerpts by his friends Jack and Summer. For example, Summer, Auggie’s close friend, says: “I’m friends with him because I want to be.” (Palacio 119). Demonstrating true friendship, Summer proves that in darkness you may find light. Auggie finds a true companion in Summer, even though he remains in an environment of unfriendly and hostile children. This shows that, unlike the monster August’s classmates depict him as, he still stays positive and gains a friend. Jack Will, one of his acquaintances, describes August's school behavior as, “he’s pretty funny [...] [and] totally make[s] me crack up.” (142). August looks past the negativity revolving…
