Character Analysis Paper

Despicable Me: Character Analysis Paper Despicable Me is a favorite children’s movie throughout the nation. Although as many watch it they think of it as a fun, animated movie, it is full of different English elements. The characters all have different dynamics which is what makes the movie complete. Grue, Margo, Edith, Agnes, and Vector make up the main characters of the movie. They all represent different types of characters. Static characterization is represented by Vector, flat characters are represented by the three sisters, and Gru is a round character. We quickly get a feel for the villain Vector when he says, “Vector! That's me, because I commit crimes with both direction and magnitude. Oh yeah!” (Despicable Me). Throughout the whole story Vector is trying to defeat Gru by being the better villain. Being the banker’s son, Vector is given anything he needs to steal the shrink ray from Gru. Vector represents a static character in this movie by going through little inner change. Vector does not like Gru and says different insults such as, “ When I'm done with Gru, he's gonna be begging for mercy!”(Despicable Me). From the beginning to the end he is trying to be superior and a better villain than Gru. He has little emotion for caring about others. His personality always stays the same. Margo, Edith, and Agnes are three orphan sisters that live in Miss Hattie’s Home For Girls. All three of the represent flat characters. They all have an unique personality and are needed to carry out the story but you do not know much about their past. They are adopted by Gru and that is all we know about them. Margo is the oldest and is always trying to keep her sisters in line and is very stubborn. When they first arrive at Gru’s house he says they are not to touch anything. Margo begins to test Gru by asking, “Uh-hu. What about the floor?” (Despicable Me). She also says, “What about the air?” (Despicable Me).
