Past The Rusted Gates
Eleanor Vance has always been shy from other people because of all the years she has
Lost in the outside world while nursing her dying mother. She had wasted so many days with no
one to love, never had a real home and without any happiness in her life. Eleanor always
dreamed that one day something big would happen, she was curious. But even though she is a
curious 32 year old she is still very childish. She receives an invitation from Dr. John Montague,
a man fascinated by “supernatural occasions.” He has been looking for a hunted house all his

The reason for him being there is because the family lawyer told Dr. Montague that he
couldn’t rent the house without the presence of a member of the family during his stay. The next
day Eleanor, Theodora, Luke, and Dr. Montague meet at the front gates of the Hill House.
Since Eleanor Vance spent so much time assisting her mother, she had no time to have a
“social” life. Luckily once after her mother passed away and when she was living with her sister and her young family. Eleanor has been inviting by a physic researcher, Dr. Montague wants to
prove that supernatural occasions are real. Eleanor Vance is pleased to go but her family does not
agree. During her trip to the Hill house she imagines all the different lives she will live in all the
different houses. The thing about Eleanor’s freedom is that it always comes in an illusory form.
