Adulthood for Stacey Logan? Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, written by Mildred Taylor, is based on the time period of the mid-1900s. Throughout it, Stacey Logan is exposed to, comes to a realization of, experiences and is forced to deal with the racial issues surrounding him; he also matures significantly by the end of the novel and grows to think, behave and perform on an almost-adult level. Stacey, brother and son to the other Logans, who own a highly valuable and coveted piece of land, rare for people of their skin color, considered black or negro at this time, witnesses, and attempts to be involved in, Mama, Papa, Big Ma and Uncle Hammer struggle financially and to support the mortgage of the land.
