Behind the tables there was a big bulletin board that covered the whole space on the wall. This was divided into various sections (each part for on the subject). So as a class we read a text called ‘Diaries of Sunil and Anu’ and now the task was to write a character sketch of Sunil and Anu. So first I told them to identify the adjectives from the text to describe who is Sunil and Anu are, then the facts to support the character they are describing. Rest of the class we finished this easily and these three had not finished reading about who is Sunil and the rest was still left. The teacher said they cannot go for their swimming class unless they finish this work or the other option is to sit with me during lunch to finish it. It is obvious that would like to go to swimming class and as soon as the teacher left those three students came and asked me can we please finish it at lunch time please I really want to go for swimming class. So I finished my lunch quickly at APU and went to work with them. These kids don’t have any difficulty in reading they require a constant pushing and instruction do this, look here. Pavan is little hyper in his actions and very sharp in understanding and finishing his work. Gahana is very slow, finds hard to say what she is thinking and Shravan is a shy, spaced out child and a little slow in understanding what the question is asking and how to proceed with it. He comes from Attibele. His father is a software engineer and mother is a housewife. He has been here from class 5. His sister is also studying in the same school. He really likes to swim. He is been to many interschool competitions. He likes to study physics and later he wants to become a swimmer. And he feels what he learns does not really help him to become any better swimmer, but some concepts he learned in physics class about momentum, speed helps he feels. And he comes to school because he likes to learn with friends and play with them. His parents just don’t want him to become an engineer; anything other than that would be fine is what he thinks. He thinks one should learn other subjects or should study at school to become a better person. But he couldn’t explain what and who is a better
