According to the book “Mga Pangulo ng Pilipinas,” Marcos had always been an honor student. He graduated with honors in University of the Philippines (U.P.), the national university of the Philippines. He also finished his law studies at U.P. whereas he graduated Cum Laude. He also got the President Quezon Award for his thesis. Marcos did not only excel at academics but he was also one of the top athletes of the aforementioned university. Marcos is an individual who stands out in diverse fields. He finished his military studies with honors and was given an opportunity to teach military science in U.P. He was also an article writer in the official school paper of U.P., the Philippine Collegian. Marcos also excelled at being an orator. Moreover, even being convicted before his bar exams, Marcos managed to be the topnotcher. Despite the fact that Marcos had caused a gloomy experience for many, it cannot be denied that his accomplishments were all historic. To be able to gain the trust of his/her fellow Filipinos, he/she must be fearless. At the state of Philippines today, I do not think we need more of a motherly leader who is very compassionate, someone perhaps similar to Cory Aquino. I think, at present, what we need most is someone fearless; someone who will say what is really his/her opinions and thoughts about events, people, etc. What we need now is a person that will not say “No comment.” on serious matters, someone who will be very transparent. What we need now is Miriam Defensor-Santiago. What we need now is a leader who can communicate even to the teens of the present generation; a leader who can go with the changes in the world and knows what is in; a leader who knows how to “hugot”; a leader who knows how to draw attention from the people and impart what he/she truly wants to say.
