Focus: Characterization of Scout

Reader’s Journal: The reader is introduced to the narrator and the protagonist of the story, Jean, mostly referred as Scout. She’s described as being an intelligent tomboy, being strangely confident even when facing danger and being thoughtful about the sake of mankind. In the beginning of the novel, Scout is a kind and innocent child who has not had any understanding of the evils and dangers of the South and even the world.
