People believe donating may improve their sense of well-being, some of them are sure that if they give an amount of money to others the greater amount of money will come back to them. Some people do it because of their religious beliefs but there is a wide range of people who take part in charitable activities because of some disorders; they want to fulfill their needs or discomforts by doing good things toward others. For instance Oprah Winfrey –who has donated millions to charities and organizations and has established a lot of schools and houses for little poor girls and women - was a little poor girl. She was the victim of sexual abuse and she gave birth at the age of 14 to a dead boy. After this hard time she decided to help the other people especially the women and now she feels relaxed by helping people women who have the same problems that she did.
Totally making contribution has good effects on the society by eliminating poverty and developing science among people. But it can be harmful too. For example researches show that some people who are supported by charity organizations aren’t used to working hard and they expect others to help them.
In conclusion donating can be harmful while it's an investment in the world for the future. In my book philanthropists shouldn't help poor people in all cases; they are just supposed to provide a situation in which needy people try to live their best lives.
