Charles Aznavourian

Charles Aznavourian is a Armenian/French singer, songwriter, actor, public activist and diplomat. He was born in Paris, France on may 22, 1924. His birth name is Shanour Vafhenag Aznavourian. Aznavour father Michael Aznavourian was from Akhaltsikhe in Georgia and his mother was from Turkey. At a young age Aznavourian and his parents moved to Tbilisi for Jobs, they soon moved again to France were Michael sang in restaurants before he created his own Georgian restaurant called "Le caucase" .Together Michael and Knar introduce the world of theatre to Aznavourian. At the age of 9 he drop out of school ready to live his life as an artist. As he took to the stage he took the stage name Aznavour. At the age of 26 his big break came when a singer Edith Piaf heard him sing and arranged to take him with her on tour in France and to the US. In 1968 Aznavour married for the third time married Swede Ulla Theorell. He has six kids Seda, Katia, Misha, Charles and Patrick. He lives in Geneva, Switzerland with his wife and kids. Aznavour has a charity called Aznavour for Armenia, that was inspired after the 1988 earthquake in Armenia which Aznavour has used to help Armenia. In 1995 Aznavour was appointed as ambassador and Permanent delegate of Armenian to UNAESCO. He then became a member of the Armenia fund international board of trustees which presented more than 150 million in humanitarian aid and in restructure development assistance to Armenia since 1992. In 2004 Aznavour received the title of national hero of Armenia for his Humanitarian work, this is the Armenia's highest award. Aznavour is known as one of the best known singer in the world. Most of his musical work are base on love. He has written thousands of songs and made more than 100 records. One thing that has help him perform in Carnegie hall and other major venues around the world was his linguist skills. Aznavour can sing in French English Italian Spanish German Russian Armenian Portuguese and Neapolitan. In
