Charles Darwin was a great man and an even greater thinker and scientist that changed the world with his theory of evolution and natural selection to explain biological change
Early Life
Charles Darwin was born in shrewsbury ,England, on February 12 ,1809.
He was born being the youngest of six children,with his long ancestry all being scientists. Prime examples of this being his father, Dr. R.W. Darwin, who was as a medical doctor, and his grandfather, Dr. Erasmus Darwin, that was a renowned botanist.Being born a child of wealth and status with a love of nature, Darwin enrolled in Edinburgh university at the age of 16 in 1825. Two years later he enrolled at a completely different school,Christ’s College, in Cambridge. Darwin’s father wished for him to become a doctor like him, but blood made Darwin become queasy his father suggested he become a parson but Darwin wanted to pursue his dreams.
Voyage on the HMS Beagle
Darwin’s mentor while at Christ’s college was professor John Stevens Henslow, who taught botany. When Darwin graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1831 Henslow recommended him for a position on the HMS Beagle.Captain Robert FitzRoy was to take a five year journey, around …show more content…
