Those most fit to live in their environment will survive and reproduce, whereas those who aren’t as fit will not reproduce and die out, causing the species to face extinction. When Darwin first presented his case to get his work published, he shared his research on biological diversity. In his examples, Darwin included his infamous research on the galapagos finches, to help prove how species can vary locally. His work ended up getting published in 1859, entitled On the Origin of Species.
With Darwin’s work published, people began to look at the world in a different light. Previous theories on speciation were put on the back burner and soon to be thrown away all together. Scientists began studying his theory further after his death in 1882. Had it not been for Darwin’s Theory of Natural Selection, scientists in the centuries to follow may not have discovered evidence leading them to believe his theory of evolution was factual.
