Charles In The Kindergarten Analysis
Jackson helps show that things aren’t always what they seem using plot twist, and the use of dialogue. The conversation, “Charles? We don’t have a Charles in the kindergarten,” shows that the teacher isn’t quite sure what Laurie’s parents are talking about when they confront the teacher about Charles (77). It almost makes us feel sorry for the parents because their son made someone up and the parents made a big deal about it and talked to the teacher. Jackson uses this conversation to end the story and show that Laurie was lying. The parents are blindsided by what’s happening. A plot twist isn’t the only way she uses craft to develop her ideas. The use of dialogue in the story also show the process of the author thinking to help us understand

    After reading the story twice I was able to understand how the first sentence of the story encompasses the story as a whole. The first sentence refers to how the narrator perceives adults as people who are constantly changing things with complete disregard to kids and their feelings.     For example Izzy and her mom don’t see eye to eye with the mother’s opinion on leaving her over the summer, so she can finish her research in Costa Rica.
