Charles Reznikoff's Poem For Ideas
Good afternoon Dr.

I have been working on my found poem for the last few days. I have been working on two poems based on two conversations. One of a nurse who lost a wedding ring down the sink and the other is two of my student reminiscing about middle school. I was struggling to find a poetic tone I am satisfied with in ether of these and I turned to the internet to research found pomes for Ideas.

I read some examples of found poems. I read that Charles Reznikoff created poetry from law reports, I read an excerpt and a few examples on Poets .org and from Reznikoff’s book Testimony.

Inspired by this approach I started playing around with making pomes out of my old Military evaluations and citations. I like how they have gone so far.

The first poem I think you should consider in adding to your list of poems is "For the Fire", this poem was about the time I went in to the forest to get some lumber, and during my time there I noticed some of natures creations around me, like the kookaburra and wind that swerved in and out of the trees etc.…

My goal when writing this paper is to get my opinion and perspective on the poem across to my classmates so they know where I stand, but also to remain broad enough in my writing so that my readers can compare their own response to mine. Maybe in doing that, I can help a fellow classmate or two who has a block and is stuck in the middle of the assignment.…

The intention of this text is to promote the issues of society and expose the flaws of the governmental procedure. When it comes to tax we have little trust within the government, to contribute our money to conclude society’s issues and make the world somewhat better ethically conditioned after all that is what our tax is for, to build this nation and its citizen’s wellbeing.…

By concluding the two stores in a higher crime rate area, establishes that the company, manager, security, and employees are not able to address and resolve the situation of continues revenues loss. They are insensitive toward social responsibilities and seem to be driven by profit margin, instead of determining ways to help the community they went to the easiest route by closing the two stores and ignoring the problem.…

Freud’s text ‘The Uncanny’ has enabled me to understand the sense of ‘not being at home’ as I’m not British, having lived in London all my life it has yet to be considered home although, if taking Freud’s text into consideration a part of me has already established London as my home but Ukraine as my homeland with a difference that is very visible in all aspects of life. The British culture, religions – many to choose from which is rare in Ukraine as we have a very limited choice. For example: Christian Orthodox (three sections to the orthodox churches), Catholics (three sections to the orthodox churches), Ukrainian Protestant Churches as well as, the limited religions like Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Paganism in Ukraine. His father, Alexander Grieg, was British consul at Bergen. The Grieg (formerly Greig) family was of Scottish origin, the composer’s grandfather having emigrated after the Battle of Culloden. His mother, Gesine Hagerup, who belonged to a well-established Norwegian family, studied music at Hamburg. From the age of six Grieg received piano lessons from her, and in 1858, at the recommendation of the violin virtuoso Ole Bull, he entered the Leipzig Conservatory, where he was influenced by the tradition of Mendelssohn and Schumann. During this period he suffered a severe attack of pleurisy from which he never really recovered. In 1863 he went to Copenhagen, where his development came from his association in 1864 with the young Norwegian nationalist…

The very interested poem I selected was, “A Certain Lady” by Dorothy Parker. I chose this poem at random but was y glad I did so, as it reminds me of women of today and their constant attempts to try to entice men over with seduction, an obvious symbol that was very distinguishable to be. The poem features many poetic elements, such as symbols, figures of speech, voice, sound and rhythm. The one element I would like to discuss in detail is the tone of voice of the character. This poem seems to be very personal to the writer with great expression of the emotion of love and pain with the character attitude being very warm and intimate.…

I chose this poem because of personal experience. It brings back memories of my brother who passed away from Cancer. He was an amazing person, always full of life. His death brought back many memories of our child hood, the laughs the humor. I think back to us running around as kids, summer breaks, Christmas, and all the best times of our lives. He’s sense of humor was one of a kind, he was indeed the star on the stage and us his audience. These are moments in life that could never be replaced. Often I would lose myself in thought, and wonder who would help fill his shoes. Just as he came he was gone, as if he never existed. Everything that he worked for or lived for was gone. Over time you look for ways to bring joy back into your life, to turn the pain into happiness. I remember my sister coming home with a puppy a couple months later. The puppy helped for a while but in the end the house was the same. It didn’t change the fact that he was gone nor did the puppy replace him.…

It seemed somewhat difficult to read through a poem and try to “get” how a poem got a tone from its diction and imagery. It sounded easy to think about, but the hard part got to be articulating how it worked and what made me actually feel a certain way over a poem. For that battle, I read “Common Ground” by Judith Ortiz Cofer.…
