When people hear the word addiction they automatically think of drugs. There are so many things you can be addicted to. So if someone says they have an addiction don’t automatically assume drugs because you don’t know what they’re addiction may be. The article I will be analyzing is called “Definitions & Characteristics of Addiction by Charles N. Roper”. In the article Charles N. Roper talks about the different types of addictions. Many people with an addiction sometimes don’t even know they have an addiction depending on what they’re addiction is. Whether it’s shopping, tv, food, caffeine, or sugar. But if it is prescription drugs, illegal drugs, or alcohol, they generally know that they have an addiction. In this article they described the different types of addictions a person could have. When an addict is on drugs they need to be taken care of. Depending on their choice of drug or alcohol, addicts tend to get sick and or vomit or forget to eat. So whoever lives with the addict then they are the ones feeding them, cleaning up after them, and making sure things are taken care of, and whatever else because at that moment the addict can’t. Addicts aren’t in their state of mind when it comes to little things or common sense. Drugs and alcohol alters a person’s state of mind and the way they think. Infants are just the same you have to clean up after them, feed them, and bathe them and other things because they can’t do it for
