Charlotte's Character In 'True Confessions'

While Charlotte was on the boat she became a different person. In the True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, by Avi, Charlotte is the main character and changes personalities during her voyage. One example is,when Zachariah is whipped to death, Charlotte joins the crew. Another example is, Charlotte becomes less proper when she puts the trousers on and is being called mister. The last example is, Charlotte becomes captain when Captain Jaggery dies. While Charlotte was on the boat she changed personalities. Zachariah is whipped to death, Charlotte thinks it’s her fault so she joins the crew. “He’s to have fifty lashes” (Avi 92). Zachariah is whipped 50 times and at the end of the whip their are 4 lashes. Zachariah “dies” and is thrown overboard
