Chavez Argument Analysis
One reason that Chavez's argument is stronger is because she gives her readers more historical context on the topic.

Throughout Chavez's article, she consistently refers to constitutional amendments and the history of immigrant children in America to prove her point.

For example, quickly after she introduces her argument, she informs the reader that based on a Supreme Court ruling in in 1898, "the only persons Congress intended to exclude from birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment were children born to diplomats...Indians...and children of an occupying enemy" ("The Case for Birthright Citizenship" 594-595).
