“Sometimes what you want isn’t always what you get, but in the end what you get is so much better than what you wanted.” From the time I was a little girl I had always desired to be the Winnfield Senior High School Cheer Captain. I’ve always had great leadership skills and I have a great passion for cheer. Cheer is “my thing” and it always has been. As soon as I found out that I made the WSHS Cheer team I was ecstatic! “MOM! Look!! I MADE THE TEAM!!!!” I had waited my whole cheer career just for this moment. Throughout the years of being a WSHS Cheerleader, my love for the team grew more and more each year. My junior year of high school I tried out for what I thought I had always wanted, Cheer Captain.
I worked for hours upon hours, day and night. I toiled with my cheer binder all of Christmas break. I was determined. I knew that if I made the WSHS Cheer Captain that I would have everything in my binder. I got to help Kayla with all her ideas, I worked well with her and the team, and everything got done when it need to get done. Every now and then when Kayla couldn’t be present I got to step up and take her place. I didn’t realize how much of a job she had until I had to fill her shoes. I loved stepping up and being the only one in charge, but I was even more thrilled when she got back. I love being Co-Captain. I had never thought that, that was what I had really wanted all along.
God knew what he was doing, and it was his plan from the start. He knew that I would love my position and do a great job at it. Although I’m Co-captain, that doesn’t make me any lesser of a leader.
