Chemical Reaction Lab Report
The chemical reaction that I chose to focus on was the 3rd reaction with the yeast and hydrogen peroxide. The testable question my group asked is “What would happen if we changed the amount of times we stirred the water and yeast mixture with the hydrogen peroxide and soap mixture.” I asked this question because I wanted to do experiment where it would change the amount of foam that was created. And I know this question is testable because we can collect data from it. In our case, the data we will be collecting is the ml of foam. And we also changed a variable was the times we stirred the mixture thing. My hypothesis is that if we stirred the mixtures together more, then more foam will be created because the mixtures will have a better chance

Objectives: 1. To examine a variety of reactions including precipitation, acid-base, gas forming, and oxidation-reduction reactions. 2. To identify the products formed in these reactions and summarize the chemical changes in terms of balanced chemical equations and net ionic equations. 3. To identify the species being oxidized and reduced in oxidation-reduction reactions and determine which species is the oxidizing agent and the reducing agent. Chemical equations represent what occurs in a chemical reaction. For example, the equation HCl (aq) + NaOH (aq) → NaCl (aq) + H2O (l) describes an acid-base reaction, a type of exchange reaction in which the driving force is the formation of water. In an exchange reaction, the…

This experiment was performed to demonstrate a cycle of chemical reactions involving copper. This lab will start with copper as a reactant in the first reaction through a series of five chemical forms of aqueous phase reactions and ending to calculate the percentage of recovered solid copper as a product in the last reaction of the experiment. The experiment resulted in a percent recovery from the cycle of copper reactions of an increase to 139%.…

This aim of this experiment was to determine whether or not a chemical reaction occurred after the mixing of various chemicals. The evolution of a gas, the formation of precipitation, and the change of temperature or color are all indicative of a chemical reaction. It was assumed that a reaction did not take place if the mixture of chemicals exhibited none of these characteristics. Several precipitation, complex-ion formation, redox, and acid-base reactions were performed.…

If pH > pI, then the protein will have a negative charge and if pH < pI, the protein will have a positive charge. Buffer I has a pH >5, meaning both proteins carry a negative charge and bind to the DEAE (a positively charged resin). In the Alka-Seltzer Rocket lab one was to experimentally determine how much (grams) Alka-Seltzer and water in mL, is needed to launch the rocket the highest/longest distance in cm. Also to experimentally determine the % NaHCO3 in the tablet using the information from the highest/longest distance. Calculate the error and % error of NaHCO3 in an Alka-Seltzer tablet and to determine the limiting reagent for the highest/longest distance traveled. Alka-Seltzer tablets were first obtained. Vinegar, a 250-mL beaker, and a 50-mL (or 10-mL) graduated cylinder was given from the instructor. After the experiment, a graph of percent by mass of the reacted NaHCO3 in a tablet versus the volume of vinegar used was constructed.…
