He is constantly involved with love triangles, gambling, and more than his fair share of death. This book begins with the woes that Roy Hobbs experiences while a member of the Chicago Cubs, and coincidentally, the 2016 World Series just provided the first world victory for the Cubs since 1908. The topic i choose from the 1920s was the Black Sox scandal. It was where the White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds were in the world series and gamblers paid White Sox players to lose the game, this happened 95 years ago. ‘’On October 9, 1919, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the heavily favored Chicago White Sox 10-5 to clinch an unlikely World Series win’’ (Andrews). ‘’The players on the Charles Comiskey's 1919 Chicago White Sox team were a fractious lot. The club was divided into two "gangs" of players, each with practically nothing to say to the other. Together they formed the best team in baseball--perhaps one of the best teams that ever played the game, yet they--like all ball players of the time--were paid a fraction of what they were worth’’(Linder).…

Joe DiMaggio is known as one of the greatest baseball players in baseball history by setting a record that is most likely unable to break with 56 straight hitting streaks. However, while DiMaggio was on his hitting streak when he caught up to George Sisler’s record with 41 games hitting streak, his hitting streak started to catch the public’s attention. Furthermore, DiMaggio also said a quote when people were asking him if he would break Sisler’s record and DiMaggio replied, “I’m not thinking a whole lot about it…I’ll either break it or I won’t”. This quote not only does it show that he does not give himself a huge amount of pressure on breaking the record but also he treats everything with a calm attitude and letting destiny decide everything else in the future. Joe DiMaggio’s 56 batting streak started from May 15, 1941 when he was playing the Chicago White Sox and ended after 2 months on July 17, 1941 in Cleveland. The hitting streak is still well known around the whole United States and the world because it’s a record that’s been there for 70 years already yet nobody was able to break the record yet. Besides DiMaggio’s spectacular performance in…

Lastly, the struggle, and perseverance it takes to become one of the best teams of all time is unreal. Through the battles of the season the team became stronger and came out on top like true…

Brandon works hard and tries to do everything anyone says he can't, since the age of four, brandon has done anything he can to make it as a professional baseball player. That's enough talking about myself in the third person, as long as i can remember, i've always dreamed about playing baseball day-in and day- out as what most would call a “job”. I learned along the way that this game is a lot like life, it can pick you up and knock you down just as quick, in the words of Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard “Baseball has a way of ripping your heart out, stabbing it, putting it back in your chest, then healing itself just in time for Spring Training”.…
