Chief Guest Speech for Primary School Annual Day
A GIFT FROM GOD

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd."

I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him so I jogged over to him> As he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives."

He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face.

It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes.

We hung all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him. Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Darn boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!" He just laughed and handed me half the books.

Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. When we were seniors, we began to think

We met on a rainy day at recess when the other kids were bullying me. I was being kicked around like a hacky sack not knowing what was happening. After I finally got loose I ran to somewhere safe and the next thing I saw was him, Simon. When he saw me crying, he brought the joy back to me. He said encouraging stuff, like “You do know that the only reason they are bullying you is because they have been bullied themselves. If you ignore them for some quite time they will forget all about you. Hey, why don’t you spend lunch with me tomorrow?” Me slowly lifting me head said “sure.” That day forward I spent every day eating lunch with him, laughing and having a great time. Every day was a new adventure with him not knowing what was going to come next.…

Or maybe I'm trying to get you to think like me, hee hee hee. Is it a little jeuvinille to write out laughter like that? I wonder if my editor is going to make me omit that? Anyway, it's the last day of school. Guru, Becky, Carlton, and I were sitting in the usual spot outside the cafeteria. A brick wall that's actually an elevated plot of grass, with a huge willow tree in the center to provide us with much needed shade during these notorious hot days, and considering this is Arizona, shade is almost considered a luxury around these parts. We were staring at the large clock at the north end of the campus, waiting for the little hand and to strike twelve. Last day of school was a half day mind you. Some of the students are already cramming themselves to the outer gates nearing the bus yards, the students who were "spoiled" enough to have cars, were already in them with engines revving and itching to gas it out of here. My friends were talking a little about what we plan on doing after this, we talked about how we will keep in touch, keep in mind in a small town like Yokeman we were about ten years behind the times so internet was this expensive new toy that needed a dial-up modem, before social media became the norm. Guru was already talking about going to college, already found a full time job doing construction work in his grandfather's employ. He laments it, as he believes he doesn't have the proper physique for manual labor, and considering the housing market was crashing fast he's nervous about how long it would last. Becky was fortunate enough to get a full scholarship the the community college thanks to her good grades and volunteer work at the nursing homes. At least the local paper acknowledged her hard work, unlike the faculty here at this school who…

That year, during the "free" period during the start of each day we were assigned to the same classes. We'd sit in our science teacher's room and learn about upcycling, or the gym and opt out of dodge ball to talk about bands or how I thought you looked like Leonard Nimoy for some reason. We'd even speculated that Spock was your dad. You got me into new music, tv shows, books, movies. You encouraged my writing, even though it was bad, you'd even done the whole banana bat thing. The last day of school we'd even had a fake sword fight with our yearbooks out of sight from everyone else.…

His name was Tre and we were both on team Explorer. He use to pick on me every day so I did not find him attractive anymore. One day I was sharpening my pencil in class and he came up to me and told me that I was pretty. I was surprised to hear that from him since he would pick on me. We began to talk a little more and I seen a softer side of him. He told me that he use to pick on me because he had a crush on me. Today Tre and I have a great relationship with each other and we talk everyday. In first grade, it was my first year in public school so I didn’t have as much friends as the the people that were in kindergarten last year. When I walked into the room, both of my parents on each of my side they introduced to my teacher then I sat in the empty seat. The person assigned to sit next was a girl named Chloe. At first sight, I mesmerized by the amount of silly bands she had. At that moment I knew I had to be her friend.…
